The Kingmaker My Fiance Sold Me To My Broke Ex Chapter 07
The first step in revenge was cutting off Vic’s biggest source of power.Â
Alvin’s hacker team had already set up an untraceable encrypted IP route for me, one that connected directly to Arthur Grant’s private line.Â
“Ready?” Alvin asked, standing beside me.Â
“Of course.” I took a deep breath and dialed the number.Â
The call was answered after three rings. I deliberately Lowered my voice.Â
“Mr. Grant, this is the CFO of Pioneer Group. I’m sorry to call so late, but Mr. Vic Carson’s current condition is very… unstable.”Â
“Vic?” Arthur snapped. “What kind of mess has that idiot gotten into now?”Â
moved quickly, laying out the bait. “It’s the offshore funding chain for Paradise Island. Since Vance Capital unilaterally shut down the international shipping foutes today, all three of our shell accounts in the Cayman Islands have been flagged for anti–money- laundering review. There’s a fatal gap in the books- one that leads straight to your personal trust.”Â
For a moment, all I could hear was Arthur’s heavy breathing.Â
“Vic has completely lost it,” I added, pressing harder. “He’s carrying the hard–copy ledger with every dirty- money transaction from the last five years. He says f you don’t personally step in tonight and cover the shortfall in the overseas accounts, he’ll hand every- thing over to the FBI and cut a deal as a cooperating witness. He wants to meet you in the penthouse suite at the Empire Harbor Hotel. One hour from now.”Â
“That useless bastard!” Arthur roared, and something shattered on his end of the line. “Tell him to stay put in that hotel with the ledger! I’m coming right now!”Â
Click.Â
He hung up hard.Â
I let out a long breath.Â
At the same time, on another tablet, I used Arthur’s spoofed number to send Vic a message: [Be at the Empire Harbor Hotel within one hour with all core account records, or Pioneer Group changes hands tomorrow.]Â
Impressive performance, Eve.” Alvin tapped a key on the main console.Â
“The joint tactical task force from the EUÂ Anti–Smuggling Bureau and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has alreadyÂ
received all the hard evidence on trafficking, money laundering, and smuggling,” he said. “Now let’s go watch the results.”Â
An hour later, 42nd floor, Empire Harbor Hotel.Â
Alvin and I stood in the shadows at the end of the hallway, surrounded by a private security perimeter made up of former Navy SEALs.Â
Right in front of us, heavily armed agents had already surrounded the penthouse suite.Â
Even through the door, I could still make out the sounds of a violent argument inside.Â
“You’re the one who ruined everything, Arthur! You think you can dump all those smuggling losses on me?”Â
You idiot! You got played and still don’t even realize it! Where’s the ledger?”Â
Alvin tilted his head slightly toward me. “Showtime.”Â
Almost the moment the word left his mouth, the tactical commander gave a signal.Â
Boom!Â
A breaching charge blew the lock instantly, and six or seven agents stormed inside.Â
Drop your weapons! On the ground! Hands behind your head!”Â
A burst of chaos erupted from inside the suite- shouting, scuffling, furniture crashing.Â
Then, within minutes, everything went quiet.Â
Two agents dragged Vic out like a dead weight. Arthur came behind him. The once–untouchable chairman of Grant Group now looked disheveled and beaten down, with blood running from a gash on his forehead where a rifle butt had caught him while he was resisting.Â
I stepped slowly out of the shadows.Â
Vic’s hands were cuffed behind his back. As he was forced past me, he suddenly looked up.Â
The moment he saw my face, shock flashed across it-Â then twisted instantly into hatred.Â
“Eve…” The veins in his neck bulged with rage. “You! You set me up, you bitch! Don’t think crawling into Vance’s bed means you’re safe now… You won’t get away! I swear I’ll get out and kill you myself!”Â
ignoring the agents restraining him, he lunged at me.Â
Alvin reacted on instinct, pulling me behind him. His eyes turned cold and murderous as he stared at Vic, like he was looking at a corpse.Â
One of the agents slammed a baton into the back of Vic’s knee, then drove a hard punch into his stomach. “Stay down, piece of shit!”Â
Vic let out a strangled groan of pain. 糖Â
