The Billionaire Family Who Kept Me For Luck And Learned To Fear Me Chapter 04

Conrad wasn’t supposed to return until the next day. He had

pulled every string he could to make it back early.

Even so, he was too late.

At the sight of me barely alive on the floor, his knees gave but.

Did every one of you forget what I said when I brought

Aurelia home three years ago?”

“Everything this family has, everything you enjoy, came from her!”

He took in the bruises and welts covering my body, the

bandages on my head and arm, and finally the knife in my thest.

“I was gone for three days. What the hell did you do?”

“If Aurelia dies, every Whitmore will pay for it!”

He barked an order at the security guards behind him,

Get Aurelia to the hospital. Keep her alive!”

Conrad looked stricken. The other four barely seemed to care.

Adrian spoke first.

“Stop lying to us, Grandfather. We know the truth.”

“Hurting Aurelia is the only way to make her gift pay out.

We’ve all proven it.”

“Who knows how many times you’ve tortured her in secret over the past three years?”

He kept checking his phone, waiting for the reward from his latest attack.

If that knife kills her, maybe I’ll get something incredible

Conrad slapped him hard enough to leave a clear handprint

across his cheek and blood at the corner of his mouth.

“A reward? You’ll be lucky to survive!”

A chill went through Vivian.

She touched her forehead and recoiled from a burst of pain.

Her fingertips came away wet.

Her scream echoed through the basement.

She stared at the bloody skin clinging to her fingers, unable

to understand what she was seeing.

What is this?”

Everyone turned toward her.

The basement erupted in screams.

Oh my God! What the hell is happening to her?”

Her face is melting!”

“It’s a curse! She’s being punished for hurting Aurelia!”

Only then did Adrian notice his hand.

He stared down and went rigid.

“My hand!”

His right hand had twisted into a grotesque knot. The

muscles writhed beneath his skin as if they were trying to

crush the bones from within.

Cradling it against his chest, he dropped to his knees before Conrad.

“Grandfather, I was wrong! Please save me!”

“I only hurt Aurelia because I listened to that bitch Vivian. If

this curse wants someone, it should go after her!”

Helen stared at the rot spreading across her hands.

When she touched one palm, the skin came away in bloody

pieces. Her scream cut through the basement before she fainted.

Victor’s teeth chattered.

No. Get me to a hospital!”

The rot was spreading outward from the centers of both their palms.

Panic consumed the basement.

Conrad slammed his cane against the floor.

“Get all of them to the hospital. Whether they recover will be up to fate.”

At the hospital, Conrad paced the surgical waiting area.

Four hours later, the surgeon finally emerged through the

operating room’s double doors.

Conrad hurried over.

“How is she?”

The surgeon removed his mask, his expression grim.

“The blade missed her heart by a fraction of an inch, but she

suffered multiple other injuries and lost a great deal of blood.

We can’t promise she’ll wake up.”

Conrad’s expression darkened.

“I don’t care what it costs. Just make sure she wakes up!”
