Elena’s POV
Moonlight streamed through the crystal dome as I sat upon the glacial throne. The pack wolves knelt below, their voices rising in unison, howling my name.
The sound filled me with satisfaction.
I caressed the silver moon ring on my scepter, watching the scrying crystal display the movements of various wolf packs. Ravenspire Pack was in chaos- Lucas torturing Sarah while the elders trembled in fear of the approaching ceremony.
The pain of my past life had forged my position today. Now it was time for reckoning.
“What are you thinking about?” Damon’s voice came from behind me.
I turned to meet those silver eyes. Even after three hundred years as Lycan King, he still maintained that gentle warmth from years ago.
“I’m wondering if we would have met again, had it not been for that encounter.”
Damon approached me. “Fate works in mysterious ways.”
Fifteen years ago, I got lost in the border forest. As night fell, a silver–haired boy appeared.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here to save you,” he said.
His name was Damon, and he carried me out of the forest. Before parting, we made a sacred vow to meet again when we grew up.
Later, my family forbade me from approaching the
border, and this memory was buried. I never imagined that boy would become the legendary Lycan King.
Until three months ago, when I traveled to the
Northern Wastes to face the Moon Goddess’s trial for bloodline taint accusations, fate brought us together again.
After the trial ended, I received the silver moon ring and prepared to leave.
“Elena, do you remember our vow in the border forest?”
I turned to see Damon. Childhood memories flooded back instantly.
“You are my destined mate,” he said directly. “I knew it the moment you set foot in the Northern Wastes.” I stepped back. “I already have a mate.”
“The one who chose another and abandoned you?” Damon’s tone turned icy. “Elena, you’re not happy.” He was right.
By the campfire, Damon proposed cooperation: “I’ll help you uncover the truth about your bloodline, and you assist me in unifying the Northern Wastes. I won‘ t force you to choose, but I will wait.”
That warmth was something Lucas had never given me. I nodded in agreement.
Looking back now, everything at the Blood Moon Altar went perfectly according to my plan.
While in the Northern Wastes, I had made this request to Damon–I needed a chance to completely
break free from my past. I had him arrange for Viktor to play along with this charade.
I needed Lucas to witness firsthand what consequences his choices would bring. Only then could I completely sever my ties with him.
The moment Lucas chose to abandon me, everything went as I wished.
That night, I actively severed the mate bond with Lucas. The excruciating pain nearly made me faint, but my heart felt an unprecedented lightness.
I told Damon: “I choose you.”
These past three months, I’ve accepted Damon’s love. Unlike the false emotions with Lucas, Damon gave me true respect.
He never demanded I change, only protected my determination for revenge.
“The invitations for the mating ceremony have all been sent out.” Damon handed me a document.
I saw Lucas, Kieran, and Ravenspire Pack on the guest list.
“Excellent. Let them come and witness.”
Damon embraced me, and I found belonging in his arms.
“what expression do you think Lucas will have when he receives the invitation?” I asked.
Damon leaned down to kiss my forehead. “shock, terror, and regret.”
“Perfect.” I caressed his face. “Then let’s give them an unforgettable reunion ceremony.”
The scrying crystal showed Lucas trembling as he held the invitation.
I sneered. “Lucas, you never expected this, did you? The Elena you abandoned has become a Queen Luna forever beyond your reach.”
“Everything is ready.” A dangerous glint flashed in Damon’s eyes. “In three days, on the blood moon night, we will witness our mating ceremony.” “And the prelude to my revenge,” I continued.
Damon pulled me into his embrace. “Are you ready?”
I gazed at the chaos of Ravenspire Pack in the crystal, my heart filled with anticipation.
The humiliation, betrayal, and pain of my past life would be settled tonight.
“I’m ready,” I whispered. “Let the storm rage harder.”
Moonlight illuminated the flames of revenge in my eyes.
Elena of Ravenspire Pack was dead. Standing here now was the unshakeable Queen Luna of Northern Wastes Pack.
