My Billionaire Husband Lost His Perfect Wife Overnight Chapter 05

Everett froze in the doorway.

The mansion was silent. White memorial lilies lined every

surface, and somber floral arrangements filled the hall.

“Who the hell did this to the house? Doesn’t anyone think this is creepy?”

A housekeeper rushed over, stumbling over her words.

“Ms. Ashford’s grandparents… they passed away in the house.

She had us set up a memorial… to honor their passing…”

“What?” His voice cracked through the room.

They were fine when I left. How are they dead?”

The housekeeper explained everything that happened after he left.

Everett’s face knotted.

That’s impossible.”

Over a suit? He was a grown man, not a child.”

Where’s Tessa? I’ll handle her myself.”

The housekeeper shook her head and said nothing.

He didn’t wait for an answer. He went straight upstairs.

“Tessa, your family is getting more out of line by the day.”

“First the divorce stunt, and now you’re faking deaths to guilt–trip me…”

He pushed open the bedroom door and stopped.

The room was gutted.

Every trace of Tessa had been stripped clean.

“Where is she?”

He grabbed the nearest housekeeper.

The housekeeper opened her mouth, but Vanessa stepped between them.

Mr. Ashford, I noticed Ms. Ashford booked a vacation. She

probably hasn’t returned from her little getaway yet.”

Everett’s frown deepened.

“How dare she?”

Vanessa caught the look on his face, and something sharp

moved behind her eyes.

“Don’t be upset, Mr. Ashford. She’s probably just jealous that we took our trip.”

Her voice dropped.

“But… she may have taken her grandparents along. That’s probably why she submitted a withdrawal request for $280,000. I went ahead and approved it on her behalf.”

His face turned to granite.

“She told me her grandparents were dead, then took them on

a vacation? Who the hell gave her permission to spend that kind of money?”

He stormed back into the study.

He sent Tessa a message.

Give that money back. I never approved it. Who gave you the right to spend that kind of money?]

If you wanted to take them on a trip, you should’ve told me. I never said you couldn’t.]

The message failed instantly.

[Message Not Delivered]

His stomach dropped.

His phone rang.

The funeral home.

“Mr. Ashford, Walter and Evelyn Mercer’s cremations are

complete. You can pick up the ashes whenever you’re ready.”
