Moonveil’s New Queen Chapter 05
Stella didn’t notice his panic. She lifted her wrist, preening.
“What do
you mean, watch my mouth?”
“This was my birthday present from you just two days ago!”
“She already knows. Why keep hiding it?”
Nathan panicked. He grabbed her arm and started dragging her away. “Are you insane? Shut up.”
“Take the rest of the day off. Come back when you’ve
calmed down.”
“Alpha!” She struggled, yelling. “What are you so afraid of
her for?”
“You’re the Head of HQ. Nobody here dares say a word
against you!”
I laughed.
I turned to Vivian, voice calm and steady. “Vivian. Effective
immediately, Nathan is relieved of all duties as Head of
HQ.”
“Once he’s no longer in charge, let’s see who Stella thinks she can bully.”
The hallway exploded.
Stella gaped at me. “Who do you think you are?*
“You can’t fire the Alpha from his own job. Are you crazy?”
Nathan went deathly pale. He spun and slapped Stella
across the face. “I said shut up! Didn’t I tell you to be
quiet?”
Then he turned to me, walking closer. “Zoe… you have to
believe me… there’s nothing between us…”
I laughed coldly and pulled away. “In this building, I believe you
address me as Miss Caldwell.”
Stella stared, dazed. “Miss Caldwell…”
“You… you can’t be Alpha Nathan’s legal mate…”
I ignored her.
I turned to face everyone in the hallway, voice even.
“Allow me to introduce myself.”
“My name is Zoe Caldwell. I am the newly appointed CEO
of Moonveil Pack Holdings, formally ratified by the Board
of Directors. Effective today, I oversee all HQ operations,
HR discipline, Pack business order, and all senior executive
appointments.”
Silence. Then the hallway erupted.
“What?! She’s not just the Alpha’s Luna—she’s our new
CEO?!”
“What did we just do…”
“Wait–Stella just slapped our CEO?!”
“We’re done. We all joined in…”
“Hold on. Stella said she and the Alpha have been together
this whole time. So she’s the other woman? Breaking a
mate bond?”
“Oh my God. Stella’s going to get us all fired.”
Stella trembled, white as a sheet. She grabbed Nathan’s
arm, desperate. “Alpha… you have to help me…”
“I can’t lose this job…”
“How was I supposed to know? If you’d told me, I never
would have stopped her from the elevator.”
Nathan’s face flushed with rage. He threw her hand off.
“Didn’t tell you?”
“I told you to apologize, didn’t I? And you just kept talking!”
“Let me make this clear. There is nothing between us.
Don’t you dare drag me down with you.”
Stella crumpled to the floor at the rejection.
Then she looked up and screamed at him. “Nathan!”
“You told me your Luna was stationed overseas at the
European Division! How was I supposed to know?!”
“You said I represented you at this company! You said I
could do whatever I wanted and nobody would say a word!”
“And now you’re throwing me under the bus? What about me?!”
The crowd drew a collective breath.
Everyone stepped back.
“So Stella knew the whole time the Alpha had a legal Luna.”
“Knew and still went after him? You’re disgusting.”
“We’ve had enough of you. Throwing your weight around
just because the Alpha liked you.”
“Miss Caldwell’s here now. Let’s see how tough you are.”
Stella realized what she’d said. She dropped to her knees, sobbing.
“No… I never wanted to take the Luna’s place…”
“If I’d known who she was, I never would have…”
I found it all exhausting.
Even if I wasn’t Nathan’s mate. Even if I wasn’t the CEO of
Moonveil Pack Holdings.
Did that give her the right to treat anyone like this?
If one executive assistant could act like this, what was
happening further down the ranks?
I didn’t look at Stella again. I turned and walked into the HR office.
“Vivian. A word.”
Nathan reached for me. “Darling, I-”
I stepped away, frown sharp. “Nathan. In this building, it’s
Miss Caldwell.”
“As for you and Stella? I’m not interested right now.”
I lifted my chin slightly.
Vivian understood. She closed the door behind her,
shutting out the noise.
