He Cheated, I Left Chapter 06
That day, I even tagged along to the hospital–just to see Lily finally get a taste of the hell I went through. Watching her lose it and start pounding on Eric, just like I used to, was honestly kind of satisfying.
I curled my lips into a mocking smile and knocked on the door.
“Oh, what a coincidence. I just happened to bump into you guys at the hospital.
“I had no idea what was going on, so I figured I’d drop by and see for myself,” I said, feigning innocence.
The moment Lily saw me walk in, her face twisted in shock.
It hit her all of a sudden.
She totally lost it, charging at me and aiming a slap right at my face.
“It’s you! It’s you, isn’t it? You set this whole thing up, didn’t you?” Lily screamed.
I let out a cold, mocking laugh and shoved her off me, hard.
“Looks like I crashed the party. Honestly, I just wanted to check in on you two.
“Eric, keep your woman under control. Don’t let her go crazy and bark like a rabid bitch,” I sneered.
Without sparing them another glance, I turned and walked out of the hospital room.
Lily was losing it, crying her eyes out and hurling insults at me.
“Emily, you bitch! You killed my baby!” she shrieked Eric jumped in, blocking her path, his face twisted with rage.
“What are you doing? Can you just calm down? I’m already divorced from Emily. Why are you still picking a fight with her?” he snapped.
Lily went absolutely berserk, yelling her head off
“What am I doing? She killed my baby! What do you think I’m doing?” she screamed, her voice cracking with rage.
I didn’t bother listening to the rest. The elevator doors opened, and I was heading home.
Now that Lily had gotten what she deserved, it was finally Eric’s turn to suffer.
Early the next morning, I had my lawyer, whom I’d paid a fortune, send me all the dirt she’d dug up.
Then I handed it straight over to the police and the courts, making sure Eric had nowhere left to hide.
But I never expected there’d be an unexpected bonus in all this.
Maybe Lily’s miscarriage made Eric feel guilty, or at least pretend to, because he actually took her to get their marriage license.
The moment I heard the news, I just laughed. ‘How fitting,’ I thought to myself.
I used to think I’d have to take care of Lily myself, but this was even better. Eric would be rotting in jail, and Lily, his wife, would be left out here drowning in debt.
It was absolutely perfect.
Sure enough, Eric had barely walked out of the courthouse with his marriage license when the cops showed up and arrested him for bribery and tax evasion.
He looked absolutely stunned when they took him away.
Lily was gripping his hand for dear life, her face frozen in shock and disbelief.
As for me, I just stood off to the side, watching them freak out and feeling totally satisfied.
It wasn’t until the cops dragged Eric away and Lily was left standing there, lost and panicked, that I finally stepped out and headed over.
I shot Lily a cold, arrogant smirk; her face was pale as a ghost and her hair was a total mess.
“How pathetic. You gave up everything for a guy, and you don’t even realize you’re just the scapegoat,” I sneered.
Lily stared at me, her eyes wide with fear.
“What do you mean?” she stammered.
I shot her a contemptuous smirk.
“You seriously still don’t get it? Since you’re so pathetic, I’ll lay it out for you.
“Eric’s company blew up ages ago. He didn’t want me saddled with all that debt, so he started shuffling assets around and hunting for some woman to take the fall.
“You always thought you were some hotshot, right? All those times you trashed me on WhatsApp and I never even bothered to clap back. Let me be real with you. Eric and I set this whole thing up.
“We made you believe he was obsessed with you, made you think you could actually become Mrs. Shaw. Now the whole world knows about your messy little fling, and it made our divorce and asset transfer look perfectly legit.
“Oh, and you really thought your miscarriage was just some freak accident? Let me break it down for you. I was jealous, so right outside the courthouse, told Eric to make sure you didn’t keep the baby. He agreed on the spot.
“That night, he set up the whole scene so you’d catch him cheating, just to guarantee you’d lose it. How’s that for payback, homewrecker?” I sneered.
Lily was trembling from head to toe, completely hysterical as she yelled at me.
“No way! Eric would never betray me like this!” she screamed.
let out another mocking laugh at her words.
“No way? Why not? What do you even have that Eric could possibly want? You’re just some coffee girl with a lame diploma. Are you drop–dead gorgeous? Got some fancy degree? Are you some emotional mastermind?
“What makes you think Eric would ever go for a nobody like you? You seriously believe those three years of high school breakfasts you brought him actually won his heart? Please.
“Eric’s had everything life could offer; he forgot about you ages ago. You’re just plain dumb.
“Whatever, I’m done wasting my breath on you. Believe it or not, when the debt collectors come knocking at your door tonight, you’ll see for yourself,” I sneered.
Without another glance at Lily, I got into the car waiting by the curb.
She finally broke down, sobbing her heart out.
Watching her cry, I curled my lips into a mocking smirk. Pathetic. But honestly, she had it coming.
Because I made sure everything was airtight, Eric was locked up for good.
And in just fifteen days, thanks to my actions, his company filed for bankruptcy.
Even a month later, Eric was sentenced to three years in prison.
When I got the news, I wasn’t really happy about it.
After all, my dad was already dead.
Just as I was about to cry again, missing my dad, Lily showed up.
Her face was bruised and swollen, and her body was covered in welts.
She dropped to her knees in front of me, sobbing and begging for help. She said the debt collectors were after her, and she was scared they’d beat her to death.
She looked so miserable that I handed her a phone number.
I told her it was her call if she wanted to leave the country.
Sure enough, Lily ended up leaving the country. When I heard the news, I couldn’t help but laugh. She really was clueless.
But even someone that clueless ended up causing my dad’s death, and once left me so helpless | couldn’t even fight back.
