Alpha No longer Pretends Chapter 05
My mind went blank. Something inside me snapped completely.
Ivy still pretended to apologize.
“I’m so sorry, Sister. My chest hurt, and I broke it by accident…”
I looked up in a trance. There was no trace of apology in her eyes,
but blatantly satirised me.
The others felt something was wrong and stammered, “It seems
that this is really ashes, and a whole bone…”
Mason turned pale. He looked up at me.
But the next second, I lunged at Ivy Johnson and tumbled down the stairs with her.
“Ah!”
Ivy rolled to the side, pale and clutching her stomach.
“It hurts… my baby!”
Everyone rushed to her at once.
I held my bleeding forehead and crawled back up the stairs,
gathering my mother’s ashes bit by bit.
Ivy’s friend refused to back down. She charged at me, grabbed my
collar, and hit me repeatedly.
“You bitch! If Ivy loses the baby, I’ll never forgive you!”
Her shoes ground the ashes into the floor.
I felt like I was being choked, nearly suffocating.
I pulled her off me and punched her furiously.
“Ah! Help! Emily Brown’s trying to kill me! Help!”
The woman’s miserable screams filled the mansion. She was no longer arrogant.
But I was like a wild beast, crazed and blind with rage.
I didn’t stop until her face was covered in blood. Someone pulled me off.
Mason was no longer calm. His voice shook as he held me tight.
“Calm down, Emily Brown! Do you want to kill someone and go to jail?!”
But I couldn’t hear him. All I could see was my mother’s ashes.
She’d suffered so much at my father’s hands in life. And in death,
she was being disrespected like this.
I wished I had a knife to kill them all.
So I opened my mouth and bit down hard on Mason’s hand.
Blood poured out at once, flesh torn open.
Mason’s forehead tensed with pain.
He let go of me unexpectedly, clutching his bleeding wound.
“Emily Brown, you’re really insane! I–ah!”
A glass crashed against his head. He collapsed to the floor.
With no one left to stop me, I held the newly filled urn and
stumbled out of the disgusting mansion.
Mason was unconscious for only a few minutes before he slowly
woke up. He trembled–not from fear, but because he knew
something had slipped out of his control.
The house was empty. Soon someone found him and rushed him to the hospital.
After his wound was stitched up, Mason heard commotion outside.
Ivy Johnson stood there in a hospital gown, full of anger and despair.
When she saw Mason, she threw herself into his arms.
“Alpha, our baby’s gone! Call the police! Lock that crazy woman up!”
She pulled out her phone, but Mason took it before she could dial.
His voice was soft, tired, but clear enough for Ivy to hear.
He said. “Forget it.”
Ivy felt like she’d been split open with a knife.
She froze completely.
Her lips trembled. “Alpha, what are you saying? She killed our baby!
How can you take that bitch’s side?!”
Ivy was furious. She’d thought this baby would let her take my place.
But the baby was gone, and the father wanted to sweep it under the rug.
She hit Mason with her fists, tears pouring down.
Mason’s face was blank. He grabbed her wrists.
He demanded. “If you hadn’t broken the urn on purpose, our baby
would still be alive! I’ve been merciful not to blame you. How dare you question me?!”
With that, he threw her aside and walked out.
Ivy’s mind went blank. She refused to accept it and chased after him.
“Did that bitch tell you I did it on purpose? How can you believe
her? She’s lying! And who knows what was in that urn anyway-
maybe it was just lime, dirt, mud-”
“Enough!”
Mason stopped abruptly and turned to snap at her.
The housekeeper had already told him everything. Emily’s mother had died a year ago.
He’d been busy with a foreign model back then and hadn’t noticed a thing.
Mason looked Ivy up and down coldly and scoffed.
What made her think he would ever marry someone like her?
“I spoiled you before because you were obedient. But if you’re going
to act like this, I won’t even look at you.”
With that, he pushed the stunned Ivy aside and left.
