Alpha No longer Pretends Chapter 04
The room went silent. When Mason recovered, his eyes were full of absurdity.
“Are you really going to be this difficult? Can’t you just behave?”
At his words, the others chimed in.
“Come on, Luna. It’s Ivy’s birthday today. Don’t steal the spotlight.”
“The child is born, and you have to be responsible. You can’t let the
baby have no complete family.”
“Don’t do things that can’t be on the table for the sake of being
jealous. Isn’t it good to be harmonious?”
Everyone, you say a word and I say a word, and blame all the faults on me.
I knew. Ever since I married him, everyone looked down on me.
Homewrecker. Gold digger. Trash.
They called me every terrible name.
But I wasn’t the weak Emily Brown anymore, the girl who cried at a few words.
“Mason, I’m serious about dissolving the bond. Harper’s a girl. Your
family won’t care about her anyway. Let’s end this well.”
With that, I took my mother’s urn and walked toward the door.
Mason frowned. He grabbed my wrist tightly.
Before he could speak, one of Ivy’s friends suddenly screamed.
She pointed at the urn in my hand.
“No wonder Ivy’s been having heart palpitations lately! You cursed her with this disgusting thing!”
My mind went blank. I didn’t understand what she was saying.
The others were confused too. Ivy turned pale and explained fearfully.
“I’ve been throwing up and shaking with heart pain for days. I went to a witch, and she said someone put a dark object in the house to harm me.”
Tears streamed down Ivy’s face. She looked at me pitifully.
“Sister, if you hate me, I’ll leave. But please spare my life. I have your Alpha’s baby in my belly!”
With that, she knelt trembling in front of me, looking helpless and bullied.
The room erupted in anger toward me.
“Emily Brown, you’re horrible! How could you do something so low?”
“Kick her out! She’s shameless! Inhuman!”
I pulled my arm free and shouted angrily. “You’re talking nonsense!
This is my mother’s ashes, not some curse! You must be crazy to believe Ivy Johnson’s lies!”
A few people flushed at my words.
But others still mocked. “Some people are just shameless and won’t admit it.”
Blood tasted in my throat. I was sick of arguing with them.
But Mason blocked my way. He snatched the urn from my hands.
Alarm bells rang in my head. I reached out and screamed. “Give it
back! Give me my mother’s ashes!”
Mason pushed me away, disappointment in his eyes.
He tried to open it, but it was sealed tight.
Ivy’s friend scoffed.
“If you
can’t open it, break it! Let’s see what’s really inside!”
My heart raced. My voice cracked with tears.
“Please… give it back to me.”
Mocking laughs rang out. People shook their heads and murmured.
“What an actress. She staged this whole thing”
Mason was about to smash it, but he hesitated when he saw my wet eyes.
Finally, he ordered coldly.
“If you want the urn back, apologize to Ivy Johnson. Be sincere. Or I’ll throw it down the drain.”
My blood turned ice cold. I stared at Mason with bloodshot eyes.
Without hesitation, I bowed ninety degrees to Ivy Johnson amid everyone’s contempt.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have hurt you. I shouldn’t have laid hands on you. Please forgive me.”
Everyone held their breath. In those long seconds, I felt my dignity being trampled into the dirt.
Finally, Ivy chuckled and helped me up.
“I forgive you, Sister We’ll be friends from now on
Mason’s face relaxed. He held out the urn to me.
“Don’t hurt Ivy again. I expect-
“Ah!”
Ivy suddenly screamed, grabbed her chest, and collapsed.
She fell right against Mason’s hand
The urn slipped from his grasp. It crashed to the floor and shattered
into pieces. Ashes spilled everywhere.
