Top Digger’s Counterattack Chapter 08
The senior shareholders kept nodding as they listened.
After the meeting, Damien took Scarlett back to his office.
He closed the door and pressed Scarlett against it.
He said, “You were amazing just now.”
Scarlett hooked her arms around his neck and teased,
“That’s all thanks to you, Damien.”
Damien leaned down, kissing her.
But Scarlett pushed him away and said, “Don’t fool around. We’re in the office.”
Damien let go of her and went to sit behind his desk.
He said, “Kyler won’t just let this slide.”
Scarlett straightened her clothes and replied, “I know. He’ll definitely go after Jax.”
Damien raised his eyebrows and asked, “You even anticipated that?”
Scarlett walked over and rested her hands on the desk.
She said, “Kyler’s out of options. He’ll have to join forces with Jax.
“Guess the enemy of his enemy is his friend.”
Damien nodded and asked, “So, what’s your move?”
Scarlett straightened up and replied, “I’ll just wait for them to show up.”
That night, Scarlett returned to the dorm to pack up her stuff, ready to move into Damien’s villa.
The dorm door swung open, and Lila walked in.
She looked Much thinner than before, and her face
was ghostly pale.
When she saw Scarlett, Lila bit her lip.
She asked, “Scarlett, can I talk to you?”
Scarlett stuffed her clothes into her suitcase without looking up and said coldly, “We have nothing to talk about.”
Lila walked over and grabbed Scarlett’s hand.
She pleaded, “Scarlett, I’m begging you, just let me go.
“My dad’s been arrested, and our house was taken away. I don’t even have a place to stay anymore.”
Scarlett shook off her hand and said coldly, “That’s your problem, not mine.”
Lila dropped to her knees and clung to Scarlett’s leg.
She sobbed, “Scarlett, I know I messed up.
“I shouldn’t have posted those things on the forum, and I shouldn’t have targeted you. Please, just ask Damien to show some mercy to my dad.”
Scarlett looked down at her and said, “Lila, you’re
Mistaken.
“It was Jax who brought down your family, not me.”
Lila shook her head, tears streaming down her face. She sobbed, “I know you were behind it.
“As long as you tell him to stop, Jax will call off everything.”
Scarlett laughed and shot back, “Why should I help you?
“Did you ever think of letting me go when you were leading the Mob against me online?”
Lila just froze and faltered, “I…”
Scarlett shoved her away with her foot and yanked her suitcase upright.
She said coldly. “Regretting it now? Should’ve thought
of that before.”
After saying that, Scarlett walked out of the dorm.
Lila crumpled to the ground, crying out in despair.
Someone commented. [Don’t pity her. She was the one who drove the original girl to her death!]
[That’s right. Let her see what real despair feels like.]
(Good job. No Mercy, no saint here.]
Scarlett officially moved into Damien’s villa.
From then on, she started going to work with Damien every day.
Just as Scarlett predicted, Kyler went to Jax.
The two of them met in secret at a private club.
In the VIP suite, Jax was smoking and looked at Kyler sitting across from him.
He asked, “Kyler, what’s up?”
Kyler got straight to the point.
“I want you to help me ruin Scarlett,” he said.
Jax laughed and said, “Are you serious, Kyler?
“Scarlett is Damien’s woman now. How dare I touch
her?”
Kyler gritted his teeth and said, “As long as you help
the piece of land in South City is yours.”
Me,
Jax’s eyes lit up. That piece of land in South City was Something Jax had been coveting for a long time.
He said, “Deal. So, what’s the plan?”
Kyler took out a USB drive and said, “This is the core secret of the Cole Group.
“You get someone to sell it off to a competitor, then frame Scarlett for the whole mess.”
Jax took the USB drive and turned it over in his hand.
He teased, “Damn, Kyler, that’s heartless.
“You’re even throwing your own company under the bus for this.”
Kyler snorted and said, “Whatever it takes to get Scarlett out of my way, I don’t care.”
Jax put the USB drive into his pocket.
He said with a confident smirk, “Alright, leave this to Me.”
The two struck a deal. Then Kyler left the club.
Jax took out his phone and dialed Scarlett.
He said, “Scarlett, he fell into the trap.”
Scarlett’s voice came through the line. “Stick to the plan.”
A few days later, word got out about the Cole Group’s top–secret files.
The company’s stock price crashed, and the board was furious.
Elara rushed into Damien’s office, flanked by a group of shareholders.
She snapped, “Damien, this is the assistant you picked?”
She slammed a file down on the table and added,
“Now the whole company knows that Scarlett sold our secrets to the rival company.”
Damien sat in his chair, and his face was blank.
He said coolly, “Elara, don’t throw around accusations unless you’ve got proof.”
Elara sneered, “Proof? Kyler has dug up the evidence. Four Million dollars just appeared out of nowhere in Scarlett’s offshore account, no explanation for it!”
Kyler walked out of the crowd.
