Top Digger’s Counterattack Chapter 05
Scarlett shot back, “If you hadn’t been cheating on him behind his back, how could he have seen that video?”
There were many nurses and patients‘ families in the hallway.
As soon as they heard Scarlett’s words, they started whispering and pointing.
Lila covered her face and ran away.
Scarlett walked out of the hospital.
Damien’s car stopped at the door.
Scarlett got in the car.
Damien asked, “Where to?”
“Jax’s ward,” Scarlett replied.
Damien started the car and asked, “Why are you going
to see him?”
Scarlett looked out the window and replied, “Talk about a business deal.”
Jax’s ward was in another private hospital.
When Scarlett pushed the door open and walked in,
Jax was playing a даме.
His leg was in a cast.
Seeing Scarlett, he put his phone down.
“Well, if it isn’t Kyler’s little sidekick, Jax sneered.
Scarlett walked over to the bed and said, “Hello, Jax, nice to meet you. I’m Scarlett.”
Jax sized her up and asked, “What do you want?”
Scarlett took out a document and tossed it onto the bed, saying, “Take a look at this, Jax.”
Jax picked up the document and gave it a quick look. His face fell.
He asked, “Why do you have this?”
The document detailed the Ryder family’s recent tax troubles.
Scarlett pulled a chair and sat down, saying, “Not only do I have this, but I also have a solution.”
Jax stared at Scarlett and asked, “What are your terms?”
Scarlett held up two fingers and said, “First, dump Lila.
“Second, help me bring down the Reed family.”
Jax sneered, “Lila was just a fling.
“As for the Reed family, that tiny company’s nothing. I could ruin them without even trying.”
Scarlett stood up and said, ‘Pleasure doing busine with you.”
Jax watched her walk away and asked, “What’s your grudge against Kyler?”
Scarlett didn’t even turn around and replied, “No grudge. I just can’t stand him.”
Back at school, Lila was completely overwhelmed by the endless rumors swirling around her.
The campus forum was blowing up with posts calling her a two–timer.
Lila was smashing things in frustration in the dorm.
Scarlett opened the door and walked in.
A cup was hurled at her suddenly.
Scarlett tilted her head to dodge.
The cup smashed against the wall and shattered to the ground.
Scarlett looked at Lila and asked, “Is freaking out going to help?”
Lila’s eyes were red from crying. “Scarlett! Why are you doing this to me?” she shouted.
Scarlett walked over to the desk and picked up a book.
She said, “What exactly did I do to you?
“I’m just letting everyone know what you’ve done.”
Lila rushed over, clutching at Scarlett’s clothes in desperation.
“You ruined my life. You destroyed everything about Me!” she screamed.
Scarlett peeled Lila’s hands off and shoved her hard.
Lila went crashing to the floor.
Scarlett said coldly, “Lila, when you destroyed the female lead, did it ever cross your mind that you’d end up like this?”
Lila froze, her eyes wide in shock. “The female lead? What are you talking about?” she asked.
Scarlett crouched down and tapped Lila’s cheek.
She sneered, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t
understand.
“You just need to know that your good days are over.”
Scarlett stood up and walked out of the dorm.
Lila sat on the ground, sobbing her heart out.
The bullet comments were going wild.
[How amazing. That’s what a badass female lead is all about!]
[Scarlett just taught you a lesson.]
[Lila totally had it coming.)
A week later, Kyler was discharged from the hospital.
As soon as he got back to campus, he went straight to find Scarlett.
Scarlett was in the library, buried in a book. Kyler sat down across from her.
He called out, “Scarlett.”
Scarlett didn’t even look up and asked, “What do you want?”
Kyler looked at her and said, “Jax dumped Lila, and the Reed family went bankrupt.”
Scarlett flipped a page in her book and replied, “Got it.”
Kyler leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper as he asked, “Was this your doing?”
Scarlett closed her book and looked up at him.
She said, “You think a broke student like me could pull off something that big?”
Kyler stared into her eyes and said, “You have Damien.”
Scarlett laughed and replied, “Damien’s way too busy to bother with this kind of petty stuff.”
Kyler didn’t believe it and said, “There’s no one else it could be but you.”
Scarlett stood up and said, “Suit yourself.”
Kyler grabbed her wrist and asked, “Scarlett, what kind of person are you, really?”
Scarlett yanked her hand away and said coldly, “I’m a bad woman. Stay away from me.”
Clutching her book, Scarlett walked out of the library.
Kyler sat there, just watching her leave.
Some complicated feeling he couldn’t quite name rose inside him.
That evening, Scarlett was making dinner at Damien’s villa.
Damien came home from the company.
He smelled the food and walked into the kitchen.
Scarlett was in an apron, cooking at the stove.
Damien slipped up behind her and pulled her into his arms.
He rested his chin on her shoulder and asked, “What are you making?”
Scarlett smacked his hand lightly with the spatula and said softly, “Don’t mess around, dinner’s almost
ready.”
Damien let go and leaned against the doorframe, just watching her.
