The Subtitles Of Survival Chapter 09
When the cops showed up, they left without a fuss.
As soon as the cops left, they returned and cursed Me again.
I couldn’t keep bothering the police, so I called Ryan.
Chloe found out that Ryan was right in the middle of a Major promotion race at work.
He definitely wouldn’t want me leaking his photos and videos.
“Your parents are causing trouble. If you don’t fix it and my phone goes missing, don’t blame me if things leak,” I said.
Ryan sounded worn out. “I’ll call them right now.”
“If they’re not gone in three minutes, I can’t guarantee My phone’s safety,” I warned before hanging up.
I hung up right after.
With just one call from Ryan, his parents left, still grumbling and cursing.
After that, they never came looking for trouble again.
After a few quiet days, I bumped into Claire, who was out shopping with Caden.
Claire just gave me a glare and moved on.
Suddenly, Caden rushed at me, swinging his fists and kicking.
“Bad lady! Return Uncle Ryan’s house, or I’ll destroy you in the name of the Moon!” he shouted.
Claire just stood by, enjoying the show, since she
knew Caden was just a kid and wouldn’t get in trouble for it.
She only put on a fake act and finally pulled Caden away when people started to notice.
I knew there wouldn’t be any serious consequences, but I still called the cops.
It wasn’t about Caden hitting me; it was about Claire egging him on.
I had no proof, but the cameras showed her standing there, doing nothing.
The cops made her say sorry and cough up two hundred dollars for my medical bills.
The Money wasn’t the point; it was about getting some payback.
For Claire, two hundred dollars stung enough.
When she gave me the money, Claire glared at me like
an enemy.
After that, whenever Claire saw me on the street, she’d go out of her way to avoid me.
I feared Ryan would break his word during the divorce wait, and he did.
Three days before the waiting period ended, he Messaged me, saying he no longer wanted a divorce and begged for forgiveness.
I figured he must’ve failed the promotion race.
I checked with Chloe, and sure enough, that was exactly what happened.
I stood my ground, I wanted the divorce, no matter
what.
Ryan said if I went through with it, we’d fight over the assets again.
Or we could just take it to court and let a judge
decide.
Just as I was about to hire a lawyer, Ryan agreed to the divorce.
I figured his mistress Must be pregnant.
Three Months later, I Met Ryan at the hospital. He was with his Mistress for a prenatal checkup while I took Anya for hers.
Seeing his mistress’s baby bump, I felt sorry for the child and gave a warning.
“You really shouldn’t let Caden be alone with the baby,” I said.
Ryan glared at me, pissed off. “Caden’s just a kid! Why do you have to be so mean to him?”
His Mistress snarked, “So you don’t like Caden, whatever. No need to try and cause drama.”
Whatever, I’d done my good deed. Whether they listened or not was their problem.
Later, I learned that six months after the divorce,
Ryan’s Mistress gave birth to the son he had always dreamed of.
At the baby’s one–month party in their hometown, a down jacket covered his face, and he suffocated.
Two years later, Claire had her second child, a baby girl.
Tragically, when the little girl was just six months old, she suffocated to death.
They said it was a freak accident, the baby was Smothered by her blanket.
Not long after that, Caden was sent back to his hometown.
A couple of years later, Claire had another baby, a little boy.
Word was, on the day she came home from the hospital, Caden snuck in.
While no one was watching, he tossed his baby brother off the balcony, and the poor kid died right there.
After that, Claire and Keith were totally hopeless about Caden. They turned him in to the police and had him shipped off to juvie.
When Caden got out, he stabbed Claire and Keith to death. He ended up getting the death penalty himself.
Years later, I ran into Ryan again.
He looked way older than he should have.
As we passed each other, he suddenly said, “You were right. Caden really was a demon.”
Ijust looked at him, not saying a word.
He asked, “Can I see Anya?”
I replied coolly, “Anya knows who you really are.”
Ryan just lost it, tears rolling down his cheeks.
I could tell he finally got it, but it was way too late.
