The Subtitles Of Survival Chapter 08
“Evelyn, you said it! Don’t you dare regret it!” Ryan shouted.
He slammed the door behind him as he stormed out.
It was obvious who he was going to see.
I used to worry he’d never let me go, but now it looks like things will be much simpler.
But there’s no need to rush.
The More proof I get, the better my chances.
Best case scenario, I walk away with the house and every penny in the bank.
Ryan was gone for three or four days straight.
After every hookup, that girl would use Ryan’s phone to send me pictures.
The pics got bolder every time.
I never responded, just kept saving every single one.
I packed all of Ryan Sharpe’s stuff in trash bags.
When he returned, I bombarded him with sarcasm
without holding back.
Ryan was riding high, but he couldn’t handle my sharp tongue.
He grabbed his bags and stormed out without another word.
I hired a delivery guy to keep tabs on Ryan for me.
An hour later, he sent the address and a photo of Ryan and his mistress kissing at the doorstep.
After that, Ryan used the “cold war” as an excuse, never came home, and stopped giving his paycheck.
A month flew by.
I’d collected dozens of scandalous photos.
On Anya’s first birthday, Ryan showed up with a cake.
I gave him the cold shoulder, but he didn’t storm out like he usually did.
Around eight that night, some random girl sent me a friend request.
Her profile pic matched Ryan’s, like they were a couple.
I accepted her request.
She introduced herself and quoted the saying: “In love,
the one who’s not loved is the real homewrecker.”
She said Ryan was all about her now, that I didn’t even
exist in his world.
She said he came back only for Anya’s sake.
Looks like it’s time to mention the divorce, I thought.
After Ryan helped Anya blow out her candles, he left.
Once he left, I gave Anya to Chloe and took a cab to follow him.
Ryan and his side chick couldn’t keep their hands off
each other.
The walls were paper–thin; I heard everything clearly from the hallway.
I called the cops on my husband for seeing a prostitute.
Prostitution is illegal; cheating is wrong but legal.
Ryan knew better than to get involved with the cops, so he admitted the affair immediately.
I filmed the whole thing.
After the cops left, I spread the dirt on Ryan and gave him two choices.
Option one: Leave with only your clothes. I’ll stay quiet, and you pay no child support.
Option two: Sue Me, I’ll ruin your reputation and you’ll still pay for Anya.
Ryan had a strong reputation, but a leak could force him to quit and start over elsewhere.
He couldn’t throw away his hard work, so he agreed to leave with nothing.
His Mistress was unhappy he left with nothing but stayed silent.
We wrote, signed, and fingerprinted the divorce agreement, then agreed to file it at the courthouse next morning.
When I got home, I gave Chloe the biggest hug ever.
She’d always had my back, hyping me up and plotting with me every step of the way.
Sure, I could’ve done it alone, but it would’ve been way tougher without her.
The next morning, I waited 30 minutes at the Marriage registry before Ryan arrived.
He looked awful, Messy hair, bloodshot eyes, barely holding it together.
“Evelyn, Must we? Can’t we stay together?” he choked.
“If you don’t want your nudes online, sign the papers.” I
shot back.
Ryan, looking Miserable, dragged himself inside with Me to get the divorce done.
After filing for divorce, there was a one–month cooling–off period. I worried Ryan Might change his Mind.
But there was nothing I could do about it.
The day after we filed for divorce, Ryan Sharpe’s parents came to my door.
They revealed how overbearing and aggressive they were.
They banged on the door, screaming every nasty word in the book at Me.
I called building management, but Ryan’s parents threw themselves on the floor and refused to leave.
Left with no other option, I had to call the cops.
