The Radio Secret – My Sister In Love with My Fiance Chapter 04

The Radio Secret – My Sister In Love with My Fiance Chapter 04

Logan left to sort out all the canceled wedding logistics, and I headed down the hall to grab hot water so I could wipe Calista’s face

When I returned, Calista held my phone in her hands

replaying the emotional radio clip I’d stumbled across the night before

Her eyes swam with tears as she stared up at meterrified. You heard everything, didn’t you, Sis?”

I didn’t say a word, and Calista took my silence as confirmation

She scrambled from the bed, words spilling out in broken gasps

I’m so sorry, Rosiethis is all my fault. I fell for

Logan, but he doesn’t feel the same way about me. His heart’s always belonged to you.”

She broke down into messy, gasping sobs. I’m the bad one here, not him. I won’t get between you two, Can you please forgive me?”

I wrapped my arms around her to comfort her, but she’d shut herself off from everything else, stuck in a loop of begging me to stay with Logan

Calista!”

Logan walked back in midconversation after finishing his phone calls. The second he saw us, he

shoved me aside like an obstacle. My shoulder cracked against the bed frame; numbness flooded down my arm

He pulled Calista safely into his embrace to soothe her, then turned to snap at me

She’s already in this much pain, and you’re still pushing her over the edge! Whatever anger you have, hold it in until she’s fully healed.”

Every explanation I’d prepared died on my tongue. I could only watch as Calista slowly relaxed in Logan’s arms

Logan laid her back in bed, then dragged me out into the hallway to talk privately

“Rosie, I’m the one who wronged you. Take all your

rage out on me if you need to. Just leave Calista out of this.”

He stared at me with such torment, like every ounce of suffering the three of us endured was somehow my fault

I folded my arms over my chest as Logan laid out exactly how he’d fallen for Calista. Every sweet

gesture, every soft word he’d once reserved solely for me had been redirected to her

Every sentence he spoke drove another blade deep into my heart, leaving nothing but a shredded, bleeding mess behind

I couldn’t control how I felt about her, Rosie. It was the same tired line every cheating partner fell back on

I couldn’t bear to listen any longer, but Logan grabbed my wrist to stop me from walking away. “If you can’t find it in your heart to forgive me, at least spare Calista. She’s your little sister.”

I ground my teeth together, then raised my hand and struck him hard across the cheek. You know full well she’s my sister!”

Why did it have to be Calista? The only blood relative had left on this earth

Why the girl who’d snuck me half her bread every

single day back at the orphanage when we never got enough food to fill our stomachs

The girl who’d bitten a foreman’s forearm raw when he refused to pay my wages…

Logan brushed his thumb over the split corner of his mouth, tasting blood, then tilted his jaw toward me

defeated. If hitting me makes this hurt less, go ahead.”

I lifted my hand to strike him again, but Calista sprinted out of the ward and threw her body between us, shoving me hard to the ground

Sharp pain shot up my ankle as I stumbled, and watched her plant herself firmly in front of Logan to

shield him. Hit me instead, Rosie! Every bit of this is my fault!”

My closest family, the man I loved more than anything -they stood sidebyside protecting each other, while I stood alone on the opposite side. Neither of them loved me anymore. I’d been cast out of their little bubble entirely

I limped out of the hospital, my ankle throbbing with every step, and ran into a coworker in the lobby

Dr. Keith, where are you headed off to?”

Rightwhere did I even have to go? The childhood home my parents left us was long gone. The apartment

we’d bought for our marriage no longer felt like place I belonged. I had nowhere left to turn

My phone buzzed with an incoming call from Dr. Kelly

Rosie, I got you registered for Doctors Without Borders. The first team ships out tomorrow, and the second group leaves in two weeks. I signed you up for the second wavedoes that timeline work for you?”

I stood frozen at the hospital’s front entrance. Dr. Kelly, put me on the first flight out tomorrow.”

A month earlier, I’d stepped off a plane with one suitcase, convinced I’d finally found a permanent home. Now I held that exact same rolling bag, staring blankly at an uncertain future stretching out ahead of me

As the plane lifted off the runway, I stared down at the city I’d called home for nearly thirty years. Finding a place I truly belonged turned out to be far harder than I’d ever imagined

Has she called you back yet?Back in Calista’s hospital room, she stared anxiously at Logan

He shook his head. Don’t worry. Your sister’s always been toughshe won’t do anything reckless. She’ll probably swing by to see you in a few days.”

The attending doctor finished his rounds, and Logan walked him out of the room

Dr. Thompson, has Dr. Keith asked about Calista’s condition at all lately?”

Dr. Thompson paused, his expression shifting from professional neutrality to something quieter

Dr. Keith signed up for Doctors Without Borders. Her plane’s already in the air by now.”
