The Divorce He Refused to Sign Chapter 04
Marco pulled Julian upstairs for a talk.
The living room was empty, leaving just me and Isabella.
I ignored her and sat down in the dining room, but she clearly had no intention of leaving me alone.
She walked right up to me, a cold smirk curling her lips.
“Did you see the way he looked at me? He’s in love with me. Why won’t you let go? Pathetic.”
“Once my baby is born, you’ll be out. A wife who can’t give the Family an heir is useless.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“Since when does a mistress get to give orders?”
She let out a cold laugh.
“Haven’t you been through this? Go ask your mom.”
The moment I looked into those emerald–green eyes,
a chill ran down my spine.
“You’re Elena’s daughter?”
Elena. My mother’s maid.
She slept with my father while my mother was
recovering after giving birth and got pregnant. But
she wouldn’t stop there. She drugged my mother’s food, poisoned my water, and tried to kill me.
When my mother exposed the affair within the
family, Elena turned it around and framed her for murder.
My mother went to prison. I ended up in an orphanage. And Elena moved into my bedroom.
Isabella sneered.
“You and your mother are both worthless. Can’t even
hold onto one man. Trash.”
I smacked her hard across the face.
She fell to the ground dramatically, clutching her
stomach and screaming.
Heavy footsteps thundered down the stairs.
Marco was at her side in an instant.
“What the hell are you doing, Rory?!”
Isabella trembled against him, her voice shaking too.
“Don’t be mad at her. She’s probably just jealous.
Because she can’t… you know. It’s not her fault.”
Julian’s face turned steel gray.
“Rory, what is wrong with you? You lost the baby
because fate dealt you a bad hand. Don’t take that
anger out on other people.”
“Apologize. Right now.”
I pointed to the corner.
“There’s a camera there, and audio. Before you decide who’s guilty, watch the footage.”
Isabella went pale.
“It’s fine, Don. She didn’t mean it. My stomach hurts
so bad. We should get to the hospital.”
Marco looked at me, eyes full of disappointment and disgust.
“I thought you were different from the rest. Turns
out you’re just as vicious. If you dare hurt my child, you’ll pay for it.”
He carried her out.
Julian shot me one last furious glare.
“You went too far, Rory. You better have an
explanation when I get back.”
I said nothing.
After they left, I packed my bags and walked out.
Halfway through the drive home
that anonymous account sent another video.
Isabella clung tightly to Julian’s arm. “Julian… do you think she knows? About the crash being staged? About how I killed her baby?”
“I’m scared.”
Julian pulled her closer.
“No. The driver is dead. Buried in the Caymans. Only
the three of us know it wasn’t an accident. No one
knows what really happened to the kid.”
Marco’s voice carried a bitter edge.
“It’s a shame the driver failed. If he’d done his job
properly, you wouldn’t have had to do it yourself.”
I froze. The crash was staged.
My baby didn’t die in an accident.
They killed him.
Rage burned through me like wildfire.
I told the driver to turn around and head straight for the hospital.
Isabella saw me coming.
A smug look started spreading across her face.
“Hey…”
I slapped her hard.
“Isabella Rossi. I’m here to settle the debt for my
child. My child died because of you. Now you’ll pay with your life.”
