Our Three – Person Chat Only Had Two Speakers Chapter 01

Our Three – Person Chat Only Had Two Speakers Chapter 01

There were three of us in the group chat, yet my messages always went unanswered

At first, I figured everyone was just busy. After all, I’d been dating Ryan for seven years, and Chloe had been

my best friend since we were kids

That changed today when I sent my usual message

[How about we take a trip to Tuscany?

Not a single reply all day

That evening, Chloe shared a video of a truffle festival in Italy: [Looks amazing!

Ryan replied instantly, and they were off, racking up over ninetynine messages

I chimed in: [So, Tuscany then?

The chat went dead again

I scrolled up through our history

Yesterday, I said [Thinking of quitting, I’m so burned out], no response

The day before, Chloe posted a selfie [My skin looks

awful, ugh], and Ryan replied in seconds [Nonsense, you’re gorgeous], and they chatted into the night. threw in [Dinner tomorrow?], and silence again

The next day, I bumped into them eating at the same restaurant

Last week, Ryan shared a movie trailer, Chloe said [I’m in], I added [Count me in as well], still nothing

When I messaged Ryan privately, they’d already seen it

Turns out, they weren’t too busy to reply. They just didn’t want to

I didn’t leave the group or write some long dramatic message. I just muted the chat

On the day I quit, the group finally buzzed

Ryan: [@Mia My mom’s been pushing us to set a wedding date. Chloe’s asking too, why aren’t you replying?

Landing in Florence, I sent my last text

You two keep chatting. Don’t bother replying.”

Happy breakup.”

When I muted the group chat, a notification popped up

Ryan: [Can’t take you to the new place this weekendsomething came up.

I frowned

[That urgent? I finally got a day off. I have something important to tell you.

Ryan didn’t reply

I glanced at the group chat. He was still chatting away with Chloe, just no time for me

So I stopped chasing and opened my laptop to write my resignation

I was just tired and wanted a long break

The next day, I went to the office to finalize my exit. The VP tried hard to keep me but finally approved my departure in two weeks

I’d planned to mention it in the group, but when opened my phone

I saw Chloe’s post

[He said I was swamped, so he’s whisking me away for a quick getaway.

Location tagged at the airport, two boarding passesdestination Tuscany

I zoomed in on the photo

One name read Chloe, the other clearly said Ryan

So Ryan’s urgent matter was a private trip with Chloe

I tagged them both in the group

[You’re off to Tuscany and didn’t tell me?

Predictablv. no reply

I messaged Ryan directly: [Why are you traveling alone with Chloe?

Still nothing

It wasn’t until the end of the workday that Ryan finally

tossed me a lazy reply in the group

[Just landed. It was a lastminute thing. Figured you

were busy with work, so we didn’t invite you.

Followed by a smirking emoji from Chloe

When I got home, the landlord was already showing the place to a new tenant

Seeing me, she greeted me with a smile

Mia, congratulations!”

Heard you’re moving out to live with your fiancé in the new house. That friend of yours I met last time, she looked upset when marriage came up. Was she sad about you moving far away?”

I paused for two seconds, realizing she meant Chloe

I pressed my lips together, too drained to explain

No, I quit my job.”

They’re busythe wedding’s off.”
