Oops… My New CEO Saw Me in a Towel Chapter 07
Harrison said a lot that night. Enough for me to finally
admit what I’d been too stubborn to see – he’d gotten under my skin a long time ago.
We made it official.
Harrison wanted to tell Mia right away. I shut that down.
Not yet, I told him. I wanted to wait until after graduation to break it to her.
That was the plan. And somehow, the plan dragged all the way to now.
Harrison accused me – repeatedly – of keeping him a
secret, turning him into the kind of man who couldn’t
even claim his own girlfriend in public.
Excuse me?
Fine, I was the bad guy, Especially on graduation night —
Mía dragged me to a post-grad bash and I got way too drunk. Again,
The last thing I remembered was Harrison pinning me
against a wall and kissing me until I forgot my own name.
“What are you thinking about? You’re turning red.” His
breath was warm against my ear, and the memory shattered.
Before I could answer, he’d already picked something out.
“It’ll go perfectly with your dress.”
Thank God.
That composed, dignified front Harrison wore for the rest
of the world? Around me, it had been crumbling for months. “Be a good girl and go try it on.”
Like hell I would. Just as Harrison and I were locked in a
silent standoff, a familiar figure flickered at the edge of my vision.
Mia. Wasn’t she supposed to be passed out at home? What was she doing here?
She was heading straight for this store. Pure instinct – I grabbed Harrison and shoved him into the fitting room.
He tried to walk right back out. I threw my arms around his neck and held on. “Mia just walked in. Shh.”
The air in the fitting room went cold. Harrison’s expression went flat, staring down at me like I was impossible to take anywhere,
God, my head hurt. The truth was, I had no idea how to tell Mia I was involved with her uncle.
I’d talked way too much in front of her more than once —
calling Harrison ancient, saying he was way too old for any girl our age. If Mia ever repeated any of that to him,
Harrison would end me. Not quickly. Slowly.
I could see it now. Absolutely not.
