My Son Calls Another Woman Mom Chapter 06

My Son Calls Another Woman Mom Chapter 06

Isabelle laughs. It sounds unhinged. “So now your remember her? That’s not what you said two months ago when you put this on my finger.”

“You told me this position was mine. You said you wanted everyone to know I was the Sterling Donna. And now? She walks out and you change your mind?”

“Give me the ring.” Elijah takes a step forward.

Isabelle turns and bolts from the room.

By the time Elijah catches up, she’s already at the stairs.

“You think you can run?” His voice goes cold. “This is my house. Where the hell do you think you’re going?”

Isabelle doesn’t answer. She grips the ring tighter, grabs the banister, about to bolt downstairs.

Elijah grabs her arm.

Isabelle screams. The noise wakes Owen, and a door down the hall opens.

Owen stands in the doorway, half–asleep, watching the two adults struggle in the hallway.

Isabelle immediately goes limp, lets Elijah shove her to the floor. She hits hard, shoulder slamming into the wall.

“Owen!” she yells.

Owen freezes for a few seconds.

He looks at Isabelle on the ground, then at Elijah. His dad’s face looks different. Scary. He’s never seen him like this.

Owen’s scared, but he runs over anyway and pushes against his dad’s leg.

“Dad, don’t hurt mommy…”

Owen’s voice is small and shaky.

Elijah looks down at his son. The six–year–old doesn’t understand what’s happening, but he sides with Isabelle anyway.

Something tightens in Elijah’s throat.

“Owen, she’s not-”

“You’re kicking us out, aren’t you?” Isabelle cuts him off, pulling Owen into her arms. “Your dad doesn’t want us anymore. He’s going back to that other woman. He wants to give her everything we have.”

Tears fill Owen’s eyes.

“No…” He turns to look at Elijah. “Dad, please don’t make mommy leave…”

“I’m not making anyone leave.” Elijah crouches down. “Listen to me, she-”

“You are kicking us out!” Isabelle’s voice goes shrill.

You’re taking the ring back to give to that woman.

You want her to come back and be Donna. What about me and Owen? Where are we supposed to go?”

Owen starts crying.

He doesn’t understand the complicated adult stuff, but he understands one thing. Dad’s sending him and mommy away.

“Dad, I’ll be good…” Owen wraps himself around Elijah’s leg. “I won’t act up anymore, just don’t make us go…”

Elijah tries to pull him off, but Owen holds on too tight.

That’s when Isabelle gets up and runs for the stairs.

Her footsteps sound frantic, like she’s running for her Her life.

Elijah wants to chase after her, but Owen’s clinging to his leg. A six–year–old doesn’t have much strength, But Elijah can’t force him off. He might hurt him.

By the time he finally breaks free, Isabelle’s gone.

Elijah stands at the top of the stairs, staring down at the empty hall.

Owen’s still crying, little hands clutching at his pant leg.

Elijah tells his guards to find her, then turns back to Owen sitting on the floor.

He stares into Owen’s eyes. Claire’s eyes.

“Do you know who your mother is?”

Owen pauses, then nods.

“Then tell me. Who is she?”

Owen doesn’t say anything. He just keeps his head down, fingers gripping his pajamas so hard his knuckles go white.

‘Claire…” Owen finally speaks, barely whispering.

She’s really nice to me…”

Something squeezes hard in Elijah’s chest. “Then why don’t you call her mom?”

Owen looks up, eyes red. “I wanted to… but every time I called her mom, everyone got mad… Marcus

said I didn’t know better, the nannies called me ungrateful, some people said I had no heart…” got scared… I didn’t want to make everyone mad…” hits Elijah all at once.

A six–year–old just wants to make everyone happy.

And from the very beginning, he taught his son that calling Isabelle “mom” was right and calling Claire ” mom” was wrong.

He’s the one who destroyed the bond between mother and son.

Elijah closes his eyes.

He remembers the first time Claire brought Owen back. His son was struggling to get to Isabelle while everyone blamed Claire, told her she didn’t deserve to be a mother.

She didn’t say anything. Just stood there staring ahead with empty eyes, like her soul had already left her body.

Elijah opens his eyes.

Owen’s still crying, gasping for air between sobs.

Elijah reaches out to hold him, then stops.

He has no right.

He stands and walks to the window. Outside it’s already light, sun falling across the estate grounds.

Where is she? Where the hell did he push her?
