My Fiance Took My Cousin to Our Wedding Photoshoot. Ok, I Canceled the Wedding Chapter 06
“Vivian. Who are you with?”
“A colleague.”
“A colleague?”
Nathaniel pressed urgently.
“How many colleagues?
Male or female?
Are you two.”
Before he could finish, she cut him off.
“Nothing else.
I need to go, my friend’s calling me.”
“Vivian, wait.”
But all he heard was the dial tone.
Nathaniel stood there, completely stunned.
“What’s up?
Was that your ex–boyfriend?”
I had just hung up when Bobby Hartley walked over
with two iced coffees.
“He call to ask where you are?
Who you’re with?
Now he suddenly cares?
A little too late.
Don’t pay that jerk any attention.”
“Yeah,” I said, pocketing my phone and taking the coffee from her.
“Ignoring him.”
Gideon Thorn must have noticed I was a little distracted.
He smiled and said.
“For the next week, the three of us are going to have a blast here.
Have fun and don’t think about things back home.
Don’t worry, I’ve got everything planned out so you two will have the time of your lives.”
“Thanks, you guys.”
Bobby and Gideon were willing to take time off work to
come abroad with me to watch the World Cup, and I truly appreciated that.
They were both colleagues from my company and we were close friends.
When they first heard I was going abroad with my boyfriend to watch the World Cup, they were super excited.
The night before I left, they kept reminding me to take lots of photos and videos to show them.
But the next day, I showed up at work like nothing had happened.
After hearing the whole story, Bobby was furious.
“Your boyfriend’s insane!
What kind of priorities are those? Is his girlfriend
more important or your cousin?
Even if you left early, the least you could do is tell her!
It’s obvious he doesn’t care about you at all!”
While Bobby was ranting, Gideon had already drafted a leave request and bought plane tickets online.
“Vivian, if your boyfriend won’t go with you, we will,”
he said, holding up his phone with a bright smile.
“Perfect timing, actually.
I was looking for someone to come with me to the World Cup anyway.
So, what do you two say?
Wanna be my guests?
Flights, tickets, hotels. All on me.
As long as you have a good time.”
“Absolutely!”
Bobby slapped the table in excitement.
“I’ve been dying to drag Vivian along anyway.
That jerk’s loss is my gain!
And our department’s been pretty slow lately. Let’s do
it!”
And just like that, three days later, the three of us boarded a flight abroad.
Gideon was reliable and took care of everything. Food, lodging, transportation, and scheduling.
Bobby and I didn’t have to worry about a thing.
What Nathaniel had failed to do, Bobby and Gideon did for me.
The games I didn’t get to see, they watched with me.
The foreign cities I didn’t get to visit, the food I didn’t get to try, the photos I didn’t get to take.
Bobby and Gideon did it all with me.
The Mbappé autograph I wanted? Gideon moved heaven and earth to get it for me.
These two people, completely unrelated to me by blood, made me feel more warmth and gratitude than
my own family ever had.
Thankfully.
In this life, I was lucky to have them as friends.
Our trip abroad lasted many days.
We watched the matches, visited all the famous tourist
spots, took tons of photos, and had a blast the entire time.
During that period, Nathaniel called me many times, but I ignored every single one.
He kept texting me.
[Sorry, Vivian, I really did neglect you last time.
I’ve done some deep soul–searching and I swear it won’t happen again.
Pick up the phone, please.]
[Vivian, I’m really worried about you.
Who did you go to the World Cup with?
I heard a guy’s voice on the phone.
Is that male colleague of yours reliable?]
[Vivian, send me your exact address.
I’ll come find you.
We can talk face to face, okay?]
[Vivian, answer me!]
My mom also texted to grill me. Why didn’t I tell her before going abroad?
Why did I cancel the wedding without telling anyone?
Why was I blowing everything out of proportion?
She said it was just a trip abroad without me, why
make such a fuss and throw a tantrum at Nathaniel and Delilah?
She said Delilah had been feeling guilty and down in
the dumps for days because of me, and absolutely had to call her back.
I didn’t reply to her.
I didn’t call Delilah back either.
It seemed like all these years, my mom only ever saw things from Delilah’s side, only ever considered
Delilah.
But whatever.
It didn’t matter anymore.
I came back home two weeks later.
But instead of going to my own house, I moved in with Bobby.
The home I’d lived in for over twenty years had long
since become Delilah’s home.
There was no place for me there anymore.
Why go back and humiliate myself?
A few days later, Nathaniel found out I was back and
showed up at my company.
