Mistaken for a Gold Digger: The Billionaire Lifelong Regret Chapter 05

At the doorway, Sophia’s voice came from inside,

roaring in a suppressed tone.

“Crazy, this is just crazy.”

“Hasn’t Riccardo never cared about that woman?

What’s going on this time? He’s had people searching

for days now. If this keeps up, neither you nor I will end up well.”

A male voice spoke up, one that Riccardo knew very well.

It was his trusted aide, Niccolo.

The argument inside kept escalating, even accompanied by the sound of things shattering.

“Watch your tone with me. Haven’t I helped you? All these years, how many good words have I put in for you? How much trouble have I cleaned up for you? Riccardo still doesn’t know how much dirty work his

seemingly harmless sister has done behind the scenes, does he?”

“If I expose even one thing, do you think you’d still be standing here talking?”

“You’re threatening me,” Sophia’s voice shot up an octave.

“I’m just making you recognize your place,” Niccolosneered.

“Speaking of which, sometimes I really think Riccardo is pitiful. He still thinks to this day that his injection killed Claudia.”

“He has no idea that it was you who tortured her after he left, not only lowering the ice cellar’s temperature without permission, but even injecting her with drugs to terminate the pregnancy.”

“He even naively believes that the person who drugged him that night was Claudia.”

“That bitch,” Sophia said through gritted teeth.

“I went through so much trouble to get Riccardo to drink that aphrodisiac, but by some twist of fate,

Claudia walked into the wrong room and took advantage of it.”

“She messed up my plans when she was alive, and won’t let me rest in peace even after she’s dead.”

Outside the door, Riccardo’s face went from shock to

livid to ice–cold, like a color palette spilling across his face.

He kicked the door open.

The voices inside stopped abruptly.

Both of them froze in place, staring at Riccardo, whose body radiated murderous intent.

Niccolo’s face went deathly pale, instinctively begging for mercy, “No, boss, let me explain…”

Before he could finish, Riccardo shot him through the thigh. He collapsed to the ground, wailing.

“All these years, I’ve been keeping two wolves by my side who dared to set me up.”

He turned to look at Sophia, who had instantly collapsed to the floor, his eyes seeming to shoot fire.

“I never imagined that you were the one who drugged me back then.”

Sophia was scared out of her wits, crawling and grabbing at Riccardo’s pant leg, crying and begging.

“No, brother, let me explain. He forced me to do it.”

Riccardo grabbed Sophia’s face, his voice terrifyingly calm.

“So you were the one who drugged me. This whole year, you’ve been fooling me.”

“The orphan I took in back then now dares to drug me.

“Claudia and the child’s deaths were both caused by you.”

Riccardo grabbed Sophia by the throat. “You killed. them. Go down and pay for their lives.”

His hand tightened bit by bit, as Sophia’s face turned from purple to deathly pale.

“Let… let go…

Sophia struggled in vain.

Just before she suffocated, Riccardo released his grip.

Sophia fell heavily to the ground, gasping for air.

“Forget it,” Riccardo looked down at the two collapsed figures.

“Dying like this would be too easy for you.”

“Throw them in the basement. I want them to know what happens when you betray me.”

The basement was where the Bellanova family specifically dealt with enemies and traitors, using methods so brutal they were unspeakable.

Perhaps triggered by these words.

Just before being dragged away, Sophia lunged forward like a madwoman.
