I Sat Trapped In The Wedding Car For One Whole Hour Chapter 04
I kicked off my heels. I walked barefoot into a nearby clothing
store, bought a comfortable casual sweatsuit and new shoes,
and then headed toward the chapel.
When I reached the entrance, Ethan immediately started in
on me. “What took you so long? Savannah was really worried
when she didn’t see you behind us.”
I stared at the lipstick stain on his collarbone and didn’t answer.
A flicker of panic crossed Ethan’s eyes. He quickly wiped at it.
Must have rubbed off when I was carrying Savannah.” He
paused, his gaze dropping over my outfit. “Hazel Murray, what
are you wearing? Where’s your wedding gown?”
Threw it away.”
Ethan’s temper flared. He grabbed my shoulder and pointed
at the crowd inside. “All these people are waiting for us. You
really want to throw a tantrum right now?” His grip was bruising,
Guests turned at the commotion. Besides his family and
friends, the rest were strangers. My parents weren’t even
there. Not that Ethan noticed. His eyes hadn’t left Savannah.

“Then what is this? You’re getting back at me just because I
let Savannah wear the dress to save the day?”
I didn’t have the energy for another word. “Think whatever you want.”
My cold tone set him off completely. He was about to explode when Savannah jumped in and held him back.
“Ethan, stop. Everyone’s watching.” She turned to me. “Hazel,
the ceremony hasn’t started yet. Let’s just swap. You should be the one in this dress.”
Ethan froze. “Absolutely not.”
Savannah lowered her gaze, her words pointed. “I’m already satisfied. Hazel, I’ll give it back to you right now.”
She was talking about the dress, but I knew she meant Ethan. But I didn’t need this wedding. And I didn’t need him.
I didn’t follow Savannah to go change. Instead, I turned and walked toward my parents‘ car, parked nearby.
Ethan, what do we do? I think Hazel’s really mad this time.”
Ethan looked at Savannah’s anxious face, and his expression softened with pity.
“You’ve taken this way too far. Savannah has bent over
backwards for you all day, and you’re repaying her by acting like this? Keep it up, and there won’t be a wedding.”
He thought saying that would make me break and turn around.
I acted like I hadn’t heard a thing. I didn’t stop walking. I opened the car door and got in.
The second the door shut, Ethan finally registered the license plate.
Savannah’s eyes went wide. “Ethan, that looks like the Murrays‘ car.”
As soon as she said it, a commotion erupted behind them, Ethan’s relatives and friends were being escorted out of the chapel.
Another couple, also in a tux and a wedding gown, blocked Ethan’s path. “I think you’re in the wrong place.”
Ethan’s mind went blank. He scrambled to argue. “That’s impossible! Hazel booked this chapel a month ago.”
He pointed at the officiant holding the microphone. “We did
run–through together just yesterday!”
The officiant stared at him, stunned. “Mr. Grant, Miss Murray
canceled the wedding two hours ago. You didn’t know?”
