He Never Loved Me, Until I Left Chapter 06

He Never Loved Me, Until 1 Left Chapter 06

Late autumn in Chicago, sunlight filtering through golden maple leaves onto the streets. It had been exactly three months since I left New York.

I held my latte and hurried through the lobby of the multinational consulting firm. Since joining, I had successfully closed two extremely challenging

multinational M&A deals. The brilliance that had been deliberately suppressed under Richard was now being unleashed to its fullest extent here.

*Claire, this financial analysis is perfect.” My supervisor and partner, Ryan, approached and handed me a document. He was handsome and tall, and his gaze always held undisguised admiration and tenderness.

After work, Ryan insisted on driving me to pick up Leo.

At the gate of Chicago’s international elementary school, Leo, carrying his little backpack, rushed into my arms: “Mom!”

He had gained some weight, and his once somewhat timid eyes were now full of sunshine, with two deep dimples on his cheeks when he smiled.

#Hey, little guy, how was school today?” Ryan crouched down, gave Leo a high–five with practiced ease, and pulled out a limited–edition Iron Man badge. to hand him.

“Thanks, Uncle Ryan! I was chosen as the lead in drama class again today!” Leo excitedly took the badge, took my hand, and naturally tugged at Ryan’s sleeve with his other hand.

The three of us walked side by side on the street in the sunset, looking like the most ordinary yet happiest family.

Until a hoarse, trembling male voice suddenly rang out behind us, breaking the silence.

Claire… Leo.”

The smile on my lips instantly froze. Turning around,

I saw Richard standing a few steps away.

He had lost a lot of weight, his once perfectly pressed custom–made suit was now full of wrinkles, his eyes were bloodshot, and there was even stubble on his chin. He stared intently at Ryan and me, his eyes filled with disbelief, jealousy, and deep pain.

the moment Leo saw Richard, she instinctively hid behind my legs, her small hands gripping my trench coat tightly. Richard’s pupils trembled at that moment.

It’s nothing, Ryan, just a stranger. Go wait for us in the car.” I patted Ryan’s arm, my tone calm.

After Ryan walked away, I coldly looked at the man who had caused me so much pain.

“Are you here to deliver the statement of complete relinquishment of Leo’s custody? If so, hand it over to me and you can leave; if not, please don’t block the way.”

“Claire…” Richard stepped forward, his voice pleading, “I’ve been looking for you for three whole months. I was wrong, I can’t live without you… Chloe has been fired, let’s go home, okay? I promise I’ll treat you and Leo well from now on…”
