He Heard Every Thought I Had About His Body Chapter 13
If I was a shameless little pervert who’d gotten
addicted after one taste, then Warren was a starving
man who knew exactly how to read my mind.
Every time the faintest naughty thought crossed my mind, he’d appear right in front of me–usually wearing something highly inappropriate.
Naturally, he’d always claim it was for “legitimate reasons.” Indecent outfit, perfectly serious face.
A man like that, knocking on my door? I had zero willpower to resist.
Too bad, there were side effects.
Like today.
Warren had followed the shopping list and come back
with several huge bags of groceries.
His hands were too full to unlock the front door, so he
texted me from the driveway first.
[Come out. I need help.]
He waited outside for ages. No one came,
With a sigh, he set the bags on the ground.
While unlocking the door himself, he glanced at his phone.
I’d replied: [Doing that outside seems a little
inappropriate.]
Warren stared at the screen. Seriously?
Or another example.
One night, I wanted to sleep. I wasn’t in the mood for anything else.
But Warren still leaned over, asking for a kiss.
I pushed him away with a straight face.
Kiss my ass.
Then, Warren started taking off his pants, reaching for my butt.
Hold on. That’s not how this works, buddy.
And that’s how I accidentally discovered Warren’s secret.
He’d imagined plenty of ways I might find out he could hear my thoughts.
The one scenario he’d never considered was me
pulling his pants down after he’d fallen asleep.
Don’t you dare wake up. I’m gonna taking sleep sex.
Warren said nothing, just getting hard.
Once a month, both families got together for dinner.
My parents. Warren’s parents. The two of us. Everyone was there.
Warren ordered a plate of pineapple.
It reminded me something wild. I couldn’t help myself drifting back to that night.
Without changing my expression, I stepped on his foot beneath the table.
What are you up to?
He only smiled to himself.
When the pineapple arrived, he filled a bowl and placed it in front of me.
“Cora, have some. It’s especially sweet this time of year.”
I gritted out a smile. “Thanks.”
His grin only widened.
Under the table, he slipped his hand into mine and lightly traced my palm with his fingertips.
My mom smiled happily.
“You two are getting sweeter by the day.”
“That’s true,” my dad agreed.
“We’ve got Warren’s dad to thank. Otherwise these two never would’ve ended up together.”
Mrs. Cross looked puzzled.
“What does he have to do with it?”
“Weren’t you the ones who set Cora up on a date with Warren?”
My mom blinked.
“No? We just introduced Cora to someone like any parents would.”
My dad nodded. “Yeah. Did you two get something mixed up?”
“No way. Warren came home and told us himself.”
All four parents turned toward us at the same time. I was just as confused.
My mom looked at me.
“Cora. The guy I introduced you to that time–his last name was Parker. He was a doctor.”
“You never met him?”
I honestly shook my head.
“I only met Warren. He said his mom was pressuring him to get married.”
Mrs. Cross’s eyes flew wide open.
“When did I ever pressure you?”
Then it clicked.
“Oh, you little brat. You lied to both families!”
“Mom-”
Warren looked completely serious.
“Actually… it was three people.”
“I lied to the doctor too.”
The entire table fell silent.
