He Heard Every Thought I Had About His Body Chapter 04

He Heard Every Thought I Had About His Body Chapter 04

Everyone in our class knew about my history with Cole

They also knew I was married now, so no one brought up the past

Then one classmate, who clearly didn’t know the

whole story, noticed the bracelet on Cole’s wrist

Cole, you’ve done so well for yourself. Why are you still wearing a bracelet like that?”

The room fell silent. Everyone’s eyes drifted between the two of us

Cole smiled faintly. From someone important. It’s priceless.”

The classmate nodded knowingly

Ah. Then you’d better hold onto it.”

Cole rubbed the red bead on the bracelet with his thumb

His gaze wandered back to me

About halfway through the reunion, I slipped out to use the restroom

When I came back out, Cole was waiting in the hallway

One hand in his pocket, the top button of his shirt undone

It’s been a long time.”

I glanced toward the sinks

This isn’t exactly the place to catch up.”

Then let’s go somewhere else.he said

We’re not the kind of exes who need to catch up.”

He didn’t look surprised by my answer.

Corayou haven’t changed. You were just as calm with me.”

when you broke up

You’re exactly like Warren.”

Cole and I broke up the summer after senior year

There was no dramatic reason

His family had arranged for him to study overseas, and he chose to go

When I ended things, he couldn’t believe it

I’m not staying there forever. I’ll come back after I graduate. So why do we have to break up?”

I just said, The future has too many unknowns, I don’t

like that.”

He frowned, unwilling to let it go

What we had was real.”

We could’ve faced that uncertainty together.”

Corawhy couldn’t you sacrifice a little for me?”

I looked at him calmly

Why couldn’t you be the one to sacrifice for me?”

Cole had no answer

In the end, we both chose our own paths

We went our separate ways and never saw each other again

So you really married Warren? He asked, following

behind me as we walked

I nodded

But why? You didn’t even like him in high school.”

You thanked me for clearing up those dating

rumors.”

I never said I disliked him.”

Cole clearly wasn’t satisfied. He stared straight at me

Warren barely talks. You’re quiet too. How does a marriage like that even work?”

I stopped and found a familiar figure. Warren

He was standing at the far end of the hallway, leaning against the wall

His sleeves were rolled neatly to his elbows, exposing his forearms. Clean. Effortless

His gaze lingered on Cole for a long moment. His eyes darkened

Then Warren walked over, slipped an arm around my shoulders, and spoke in his usual calm voice

Compatible or not, we’re already married.”

Mr. Bennett. It’s been a while.”

Cole narrowed his eyes, making no effort to hide his displeasure
