He Heard Every Thought I Had About His Body Chapter 02
I didn’t expect Warren to sleep until the afternoon.
Even after all that sleep, he still had dark circles under his eyes.
Guess his sleep really is that bad.
Good thing I didn’t cop a feel last night. He probably would’ve slept even worse.
I’d better keep my hands to myself from now on.
Warren had been facing away from me.
Then he suddenly turned around and stared at me with unreadable eyes.
“I slept great.”
I blinked, without saying a word.
Why should that concern me?
Warren stopped talking to me.
Men and their moods. So annoying.
Warren backed to the bedroom, slamming the door.
That evening, the old high school group chat started buzzing.
Derek was organizing a high school reunion.
A few minutes later, my best friend Tara Brooks called.
“Cora, you’re coming, right?”
“Yeah. I’ve got time.”
Tara and I met in high school.
By sheer luck, we ended up at the same college too, and
we’d stayed close ever since.
“What about your husband? Is he coming?”
Her voice was loud enough that I looked across the room at Warren.
He opened his mouth, ready to answer that question.
Don’t say yes. I don’t want to bring him.
Warren closed it again. Then he quietly shook his head.
Satisfied, I answered, “He’s not coming.”
Tara sounded relieved.
“Thank God. Cole’s going to be there too.”
“You remember your high school boyfriend, right? He hasn’t been with anyone since you two broke up.
“I heard he still wears that bracelet you gave him.”
Her voice came through loud and clear.
“…It’s fine.” My response came out a little stiff.
“Great. So I’ll see you next Tuesday at seven. Don’t stand me up.
She hung up.
Seeing how unbothered Warren looked, the tiny knot of unease in my chest faded.
What am I even worried about?
Even if I cheated on him, he probably wouldn’t care.
There’s no way he’d get worked up over something
So…
“No!”
Warren’s face turned icy in an instant.
I jumped and stared at him, completely confused.
What was that about?!
His eyes met mine. A flicker of something crossed his face before his expression relaxed.
“I meant… Rosa’s cooking isn’t good.”
Rosa came rushing over with a spatula in her hand.
“…Excuse me?”
