He Flaunted His Mistress, Now He’s Going Mad Begging After Chapter 09
The day the Windsor Group went completely bankrupt, it rained endlessly.
I stood in front of the floor–to–ceiling windows of my new company, watching my team downstairs holding banners and beating drums.
Red ribbons fluttered in the misty rain like a blazing fire–I had just signed the industry’s largest smart supply chain project at the bell–ringing ceremony.
As the applause washed over me.
suddenly remembered six years ago in that basement.
I stayed up all night revising proposals on my laptop, while Henry just rubbed his temples and said, “You can’t even handle this simple thing.”
Back then, I thought if I just got through it, everything would be fine.
Now I know that when someone truly cherishes you, they can’t bring themselves to say hurtful words.
“Harriet.”
Tristan’s voice came from behind me.
I turned around and saw him holding a huge bouquet of flowers.
Colorful blooms arranged together, dazzling and brilliant.
“I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time.” He looked at me, his eyes full of love, not urgency. “I’m not swooping in when you’re at your lowest–I genuinely believe you deserve to be treasured, deserve all the light and favor in the world. Will you marry me?”
Just as I was about to speak, the glass door behind me burst open.
Henry stood in the doorway.
Rain dripped from his disheveled hair, his suit wrinkled like a rag, his eyes bloodshot.
“Harriet! I finally found you…” When he saw me, his eyes lit up instantly, and he stumbled toward me.
“Harriet, I was just confused back then. My blood type is rare, and hers matched mine, making it easier to
have a healthy baby… I thought once the baby was Born, I’d bring the child to you, and the three of us could be a family!”
“Harriet! I know I was wrong! I know everything now!
Briar’s child isn’t mine! Please come back, okay? I can give you anything! Even my life!”
I stood there, didn’t move, didn’t dodge.
Looking at his pathetic state, I felt no hatred, no satisfaction, only an almost numb calm.
Like looking at a stranger from long ago, at a past already buried in the ground.
I gently took the flowers from Tristan’s hand.
“I arranged this bouquet myself. All these colors, just like your future—blooming brilliantly.”
I smiled as I accepted them. “Yes.”
Then I naturally took Tristan’s arm, and when I turned to Henry, my voice was calm. “Henry, we ended a long time ago.”
Not today, not yesterday, but the day you left me stranded in the middle of nowhere, the day you
watched people corner me at the banquet hall but turned to carry Briar away instead, the day you
tattooed those filthy words on me and livestreamed it to humiliate me.”
paused, watching the light in his eyes fade bit by bit, then continued. “From the moment you chose to trample my dignity and abandon me, Harriet died. The person standing before you now is the founder of Starlane Tech, Tristan’s fiancée, someone who will
never shed another tear for you.”
I turned to Tristan. Under Henry’s dead stare, I nodded gently. “I do.”
Tristan smiled and pulled me into his arms, his chin resting on top of my head.
Outside the window, the rain had stopped at some point.
A ray of sunlight broke through the clouds, falling on us, so warm it made me want to cry.
Leaning against him, I caught a glimpse of Henry frozen in place, his lips trembling, unable to say a word.
He finally understood that this time, I would truly never return to his side.
All that darkness and pain had become the past. From now on, I belonged only to myself, to this light shining before me.
