He Flaunted His Mistress, Now He’s Going Mad Begging After Chapter 07
His eyelids felt heavy as lead, and Henry could barely crack them open.
He saw Briar standing by the window with her back to him, talking on the phone in a hushed voice.
“Yeah, he’s still out. The doctor said he just passed out from stress and anger–he’s not gonna die.”
Briar’s voice was cold and mean. “Don’t worry about the kid. I’m sticking to the story that it’s his. Once we get our hands on his company’s money, we’ll take the kid and run.”
“What? Paternity test? He’s got too much on his plate right now to worry about that. Besides, I already paid off someone at the hospital. The report says it’s his kid, and he totally believes it.”
“Henry’s an idiot. I’ve got him wrapped around my inger. Does he really think I like him? If he wasn’t rich and powerful, I would’ve left with you ages ago…
Henry couldn’t hear the rest, is blood felt like it froze in that moment. All the strength drained from his body, leaving only bone-
deep cold and a sense of absurdity, So the baby he’d been cherishing wasn’t even his.
So for this woman, he’d personally pushed Harriet-
who’d built everything with him from nothing- straight into hell.
He thought of how Harriet had miscarried six times for him, how she’d cried holding her mother’s broken necklace, the look in her eyes at the party. In the end,
she hadn’t even said she hated him…
And he had destroyed Harriet with his own hands- Harriet, who’d weathered every storm with him, who‘
given him all her tenderness–all for a woman carrying someone else’s child.
“Harriet…” he whispered her name, tears sliding down his face. “I was wrong… I was so wrong…”
Briar hung up and turned around, her face instantly arranged into perfect concern.
Just as she was about to rush over, she saw Henry’s eyes slowly open.
Those eyes that used to be full of affection now held only disgust and murderous intent,
You heard everything?” Briar’s face went pale, Henry didn’t answer. He just stared at her like she was dirty trash.
He slowly raised his hand and pointed at the door.
“Get out.”
“Take your kid and disappear from my life forever.”
After she fled, Henry called his assistant. “Contact Briar’s ex–boyfriend. Get all the evidence–her lies, the fake pregnancy reports, proof she bribed the doctor–package it all up and send it to her parents back home, and to her old school and workplace.”
“Got it.”
Henry leaned back against the headboard, staring at the ceiling.
Harriet’s desperate face kept flashing before his eyes, along with all the memories he’d torn apart with his own hands.
He knew this was just the punishment Briar deserved, but what he owed Harriet–he could never repay it in this lifetime.
