He Erased My Dream School For Her, I Alraedy Had A Better One Chapter 04
I stopped wasting my time on either of them and went back to packing.Â
The calmer I looked, the more irritated Grant became.Â
He strode over, grabbed my suitcase, and dumped everythingÂ
inside onto the floor.Â
“Nora and I don’t even start at Summit Tech for anotherÂ
month. Why are you packing now?”Â
“And there’s no point packing all this stuff. It’ll only distractÂ
you from getting ready to reapply.”Â
Then his tone shifted. “Why not just give it to Nora? She canÂ
use it when she starts at Summit Tech.”Â
Nora couldn’t quite hide the delight in her eyes.Â
Without changing expression, I gathered everything up,Â
stuffed it back into the suitcase, and carried it outside.Â
Then I shoved the entire suitcase into the building’s trash bin.Â
Grant stared at me in disbelief. “What are you doing?”Â
I gave a small laugh. “You said it was all useless, didn’t you?Â
So I threw it away.”Â
Grant finally lost his temper.Â
“I came all the way over because I wanted to take you back toÂ
the mountain chapel tomorrow to leave a thank–you prayer.Â
After acting like this, why would I even bother taking you?”Â
I stared at the face that had once been so familiar and nowÂ
felt like it belonged to a stranger.Â
“Drop the act. You went behind my back and changed theÂ
future I had prayed for. What exactly am I supposed to give thanks for?”Â
Grant snapped, “Fine! Then I’ll take Nora. Don’t regret it later!”Â
I went straight back inside, shut the door, and changed theÂ
jaccess code.Â
My phone buzzed.Â
It was a voice message from Mom, who was in England.Â
Mom: [You and Grant should come to London for yourÂ
graduation trip. Make sure you book round–trip tickets.]Â
I typed back immediately.Â
Me: [Mom, I already booked mine. But it’s just me.]Â
Me: [And I don’t need a return ticket. I’ve made up my mind.Â
I’m going to Imperial College London, where you and DadÂ
went to school.]Â
thought back to when Mom had written a personal letter ofÂ
support for my Imperial application.Â
At the time, I had been so determined to choose SummitÂ
Tech that I turned her down again and again.Â
Luckily, Mom had insisted on keeping that door open for me.Â
Now, everything seemed to have fallen into place exactlyÂ
when I needed it to.Â
I didn’t see Grant again.Â
Everything I heard about him came through our class groupÂ
chat or Instagram.Â
He took Nora back to the mountain chapel to leave aÂ
thank–you prayer.Â
They wrote prayer cards together and pinned them side byÂ
side at the top of the chapel’s prayer wall.Â
That was something he had once promised to do with me.Â
That night, Grant pinned a photo of himself and Nora at theÂ
mountain chapel to the top of his Instagram profile.Â
[The best is still ahead!]Â
Comments flooded in almost instantly.Â
[They look so good together.]Â
[Of course two top students would make the perfect match.]Â
[Summit Tech’s golden duo!]Â
I blocked Grant everywhere.Â
The day I flew to London happened to be our senior awardsÂ
assembly.Â
I had one last surprise in store for Grant.Â
That morning, I posted on Instagram.Â
The classmate sitting beside Grant suddenly exclaimed,Â
Clementine’s going to London?”Â
Grant immediately tried to open my Instagram profile, butÂ
he couldn’t access it from his account.Â
His brows drew together.Â
He snatched the classmate’s phone and looked at my post.Â
The photo showed a plane ticket to London.Â
We were at each other’s throats yesterday. I figured she’dÂ
keep this up for at least a week, but it only took one nightÂ
before she started trying to get my attention again.Â
The students around him laughed.Â
She really thinks the world revolves around her. Doesn’t sheÂ
know our resident genius is busy today? He doesn’t have timeÂ
for her drama.”Â
At the front of the auditorium, the principal announced thatÂ
it was time for the student chosen to represent theÂ
graduating class to give the address.Â
Grant stood and headed toward the podium.Â
He even glanced back over his shoulder with a teasing smile.Â
“Since she went to all this trouble to get my attention, maybeÂ
I’ll think about going over to make up with her after my speech…”Â
Before he could finish, everyone around him suddenly staredÂ
toward the stage, mouths falling open.Â
Confused, Grant followed their gaze.Â
He stopped dead.Â
Then someone blurted out, “Isn’t that Clementine? Why isÂ
she the one giving the speech?”Â
