He Erased My Dream School For Her, I Alraedy Had A Better One Chapter 03
Early the next morning. I was packing when Grant let himselfÂ
in with the door code.Â
He had brought my favorite chicken tortilla soup.Â
Whenever we fought, this was how he tried to make up with me.Â
When I showed no reaction, he opened the container himselfÂ
and held it out to me.Â
The soup was topped with cilantro.Â
I never ate cilantro.Â
I heard movement at the front door again.Â
Nora punched in the code and walked straight inside.Â
Grant was the only person I had ever given that code to.Â
She hurried to the table, snatched the soup out of Grant’sÂ
hands, and replaced it with another container that had no cilantro.Â
*Grant, you were in such a rush to come make up withÂ
Clementine that you grabbed my leftovers by mistake!”Â
Then she pulled a thick stack of papers from her backpack.Â
“Clementine, this is the college–admissions prep packet GrantÂ
stayed up late putting together for me. You’ll definitely beÂ
able to use it during your gap year!”Â
My gaze swept over the stack.Â
My notebook was wedged between the pages.Â
It contained all the raw data for the patented invention I’d,Â
entered in the competition.Â
I reached for it, but Nora deliberately knocked over the soup.Â
the notebookÂ
Broth poured straight across the notebook.Â
I instinctively tried to block it, but I was too late.Â
Nora grabbed the soaked notebook first, gave the cover a fewÂ
careless wipes, and handed it back to me.Â
The instant I took hold of it, she twisted hard in the opposite direction.Â
The notebook tore apart.Â
Grant visibly panicked, but even then, his first instinct was toÂ
shield Nora behind him.Â
*Clementine… Nora didn’t mean to do it. Just let it go this time.”Â
Nora hid timidly behind him.Â
Fury surged through me, and I slapped Grant hard across the face.Â
That notebook had all my original development notes forÂ
the patented invention!”Â
“What gives you the right to tell me to let it go?”Â
Her eyes instantly filled with tears.Â
I’m sorry, Clementine. It’s all my fault. Please don’t blame Grant!”Â
You can explain that to the police.”Â
pulled away from her and took out my phone to call them.Â
Nora seized my hand and used it to slap herself across theÂ
face again and again.Â
“I really didn’t mean to do it! I know you’re upset aboutÂ
having to take a gap year, but I can’t have something like thisÂ
on my record. I still have to go to Summit Tech!”Â
Grant grabbed me and yanked me away from her, his faceÂ
twisted with anger.Â
Do you seriously have to drag this out over something so small?”Â
“Nora already apologized. It’s just a notebook. What couldÂ
possibly be so important about it? Are you not going to stopÂ
until you’ve ruined her life?”Â
I scoffed.Â
Sure, It was just a useless notebook.Â
After enrollment, Summit Tech would require the originalÂ
records behind the competition invention for verification.Â
And I wasn’t the one who would have trouble producing them.Â
