After reading the evidence in the email, I finally understood that James and Emily had been hooking up since the company was first established.
He wanted Emily, but he also couldn’t give up my family’s connections and money.
So he proposed to me, yet the day before our engagement ceremony, he was going wild with Emily at a hotel.
Every year he prepared birthday gifts for me, but after I fell
asleep, he’d grab his phone to look at naked photos Emily sent him.
He made me loving breakfasts, but used business trips as an
excuse to spend an entire month fooling around with Emily at
an overseas villa, to the point where locals thought they were actually married.
He played the perfect husband in front of me for so long, all just
for my money.
I closed the email and immediately instructed my lawyer:
“Forge a stock transfer agreement for me.”
“Notify James and have him sign the fake contract.”
The lawyer immediately replied: “I’ll do everything as you’ve
instructed.”
Our third wedding anniversary was just around the corner.
And this would be my surprise gift for you, James.
I returned to my parents‘ house, took a deep breath, and knocked on the door of the duplex villa.
I thought I was strong enough, but the moment Mom opened
the door, my eyes couldn’t help but well up.
“Look who’s here! Why did you come back alone?”
Mom’s initially joyful smile immediately turned to worry when
she noticed something was wrong with me.
“Honey, what happened? Why isn’t James with you? Weren’t you preparing for tomorrow’s anniversary?”
Mom gripped my hand tightly and said with concern: “Come in quickly. Oh my, look at my poor daughter, what on earth
happened?”
When I told them about James and Emily, Dad was furious.
“Well, well, James, what a wonderful son–in–law I have!”
Dad picked up his phone and scrolled through his contacts.
“Don’t be afraid, my daughter. I’ll tell those old friends right
now that from this day forward, no one will tolerate these two
living in this city.”
But I stopped his hand first: “No, Dad, wait.”
He put down his phone and looked at me, listening for me to Continue.
“I have a better plan. An eye for an eye.”
“Tomorrow, on our wedding anniversary, we’ve invited all our friends and family.”
“Now, I’m also going to invite some sharp–nosed reporters and have them bring cameras, ready to catch some juicy news.”
“Because there’s going to be quite a show.”
After discussing with my parents, I prepared to leave.
Opening the door, I unexpectedly saw a familiar face.
He saw me too, his moist eyes brightening up.
“Long time no see.”
He smiled at me brilliantly.
“I thought spending Valentine’s Day alone would be miserable, but seeing you, the day doesn’t seem so bad anymore.”
I was a bit surprised: “David Jones, you finished your MBA and came back? Why didn’t you tell me?”
David smiled sheepishly: “I originally wanted to build a career first and meet you on the rich list.”
I laughed along: “By the time you make the rich list, who knows how many girls you’ll have charmed. How would you even
remember me?”
David just smiled without answering, looking at me with his eyes as if I were the only person in the world.
His gaze made my cheeks heat up, and I quickly said: “I should go! Let’s meet again next time.”
I left in a hurry, not knowing that David and my father talked late into the night.
This David, who had always liked to follow me around since childhood, solemnly told my father after learning of James’s betrayal:
“Please rest assured, I will always protect her, just like before.”
When I got home and opened the door, I unexpectedly heard James and Emily’s voices again.
The living room was a complete mess, with their wrinkled clothes scattered everywhere.
Emily’s black thong was hanging on the bouquet of lilies James had bought me, painfully obvious.
I walked through the living room and saw that all the food I’d personally cooked had been completely eaten, with dirty plates piled up.
James was lying on the dining table with Emily’s legs wrapped around his body.
The moment I appeared, the moaning stopped abruptly.
Emily propped herself up and actually smiled at me:
“Hi, Sophia, the dinner you prepared was really good. And so is your man, of course.”
Seeing that things were exposed, James said calmly and unhurriedly:
“Since you’ve seen it, I’ll tell you straight—I never loved you. Emily is the only one in my heart.”
“I’ve already signed the stock transfer agreement the lawyer sent. All your shares will fall into my hands. Now, you’re
worthless to me.”
After saying this, he looked at me confidently, expecting me to break down.
But I sneered: “Fine, I don’t want to be with you anymore either. Where’s the pen? I want a divorce.”
James didn’t expect me to be so cold and ruthless. His expression changed instantly.
But Emily couldn’t wait any longer. She actually pulled out an agreement from under her butt and shamelessly threw it in front of me with a laugh.
Shocked by her action, I picked up that paper with disgust, only to discover it was a divorce agreement with James’s signature
already on it.
Fighting the urge to vomit, I signed my name on the other side, slammed down the pen, and immediately went to wash my hands.
Behind me came James and Emily’s wild laughter:
“Poor little thing! I heard you invited many people to celebrate your wedding anniversary, but you got dumped by your husband the night before. What are you going to do?”
“Don’t worry, we certainly won’t waste this great opportunity. We’re going to hold our engagement ceremony on your
anniversary, at your venue.”
“You must come and show your support! We’ll be waiting for your blessing!”
I dried my hands, didn’t spare them another glance, and left without a word, slamming the door hard.
