A Drawing Sent My Babies to Their Graves Chapter 06
Jake’s head snapped up. His voice shook, and his lips trembled. “This is a joke, right?”Â
Pointing a shaking finger at my flat stomach, he stumbled toward me.Â
“Six months, Daisy! He was inside you for six months!,Â
You could feel him kicking! How could you be so cruel?Â
Cruel?Â
At that word, I froze for a second.Â
Then, I smiled.Â
I looked down and let out a soft chuckle. The chuckle grew into a full–blown laugh, until finally, tipping my head back under the stares of hundreds of people, I let out a full–throated laugh!Â
I laughed so hard tears pricked the corners of my eyes.Â
It felt so good.Â
I was absolutely savoring the agony on their faces! So this was what it took. It took this for these monsters to finally taste the pain of losing a child!Â
“What the hell are you laughing at?! You sick, twisted bitch!” Laura finally snapped out of her stunned shock.Â
She charged to the edge of the stage, jabbing her finger right in my face and shrieking. “What did we ever do to you?! Ever since you got pregnant with this baby, how did I treat you?!”Â
“We spoiled you! We gave you the best of everything! Was there a single thing you wanted that we didn’t give you?!” Laura whipped herself into a frenzy, even managing to squeeze out a few crocodile tears. “YouÂ
ungrateful whore, how dare you you murder my grandson?!”Â
A murmur rippled through the audience below, quickly escalating into furious whispering.Â
Camera flashes strobed wildly as reporters clicked away frantically.Â
I wiped the smile off my face. “Spoiled me? Gave me the best of everything? Laura, you are a wolf in sheep‘ s clothing!”Â
I snatched a microphone out of the hand of a reporter near the edge of the stage and cranked the volume to the max.Â
“How does an entire family of murderers have the nerve to stand up here and play the victim?! You’re heartbroken over this baby? Then why don’t you mention the first two babies you forced me to abort?!!”Â
The entire ballroom gasped.Â
The color instantly drained from Laura’s face. She instinctively took a step back. “Y–you don’t know what you’re talking about!”Â
“I don’t know what I’m talking about?!” I held herÂ
gaze, refusing to look away as I marched up the steps. “My first pregnancy–eight weeks along! All because Billy drew a black bird, you forced me to terminate it without a second thought! It was your own flesh–and- blood grandchild! You didn’t even let them give me enough anesthesia before they scraped it out of my body alive!”Â
Horrified gasps erupted from the crowd. The flashes strobed even faster than before.Â
I didn’t stop. I pointed directly at Jake, who was shaking uncontrollably, and pressed on. “My second pregnancy! I had reports from the top specialists in the country proving my baby was perfectly healthy!”Â
“But what did you do?!” My voice trembled slightly with unadulterated hatred. “You forced me to abort it again because of another black bird drawing! Laura!Â
You were the one who held that bowl of abortion drugs, forced my jaw open, and poured that poison down my throat!”Â
“Why didn’t you think you were being cruel back then?!”Â
I let out a cold, sharp laugh, sweeping a gaze of utter disgust over the entire family. “Bloodthirsty, cold- blooded murderers like you don’t deserve children!Â
You deserve to have your cursed bloodline end right here!”Â
“Shut your mouth!!!” George bellowed, his voice echoing through the ballroom.Â
“You lying, crazy bitch! I’ll kill you!” Blind with rage, he raised his heavy wooden cane and swung it fiercely right at my head!Â
Screams erupted from the women in the audience.Â
But I didn’t dodge.Â
A split second before the cane struck me, my right hand shot out and caught it mid–air!Â
George was stunned. He clearly hadn’t expected me to fight back, let alone with such strength.Â
He whipped his head around and roared frantically at)Â Jake. “Jake! What the fuck are you doing over there?!Â
This is your wife! Can’t you see what a psycho she is?! Get up here, teach her a lesson, and shut her up! Make her get on her knees and apologize to us!”Â
Jake looked at me, then at the furious, red–faced George.Â
Finally, he took a deep breath and marched stiffly toward me.Â
“Daisy, that’s enough. You’re making a massive scene, “Jake hissed under his breath. “We can settle the abortion at home. But not right now, not in front of all these people. Don’t humiliate my parents like this.”Â
He reached out, trying to grab my arm. “Be a good girl. Listen to me. Apologize to my parents right now, and I’ll beg them to forgive you…”Â
Before his hand even touched me, I slapped him across the face.Â
Jake’s head snapped violently to the side.Â
The entire room drew a collective, stunned gasp.Â
Laura let out a terrified shriek, clapping both hands over her mouth.Â
Holding his cheek, Jake whipped his head back to look at me in utter disbelief. “You hit me?”Â
I backhanded him right across his other cheek with a solid, resounding crack!Â
I shook out my stinging palm, pointed right at his nose, and spat. “Jake! You are an absolute, spineless coward!”Â
Jake’s forehead throbbed with bulging veins, but faced with my vicious curse, he couldn’t stutter out a single word.Â
“Security! Where the hell is security!!!” Laura screamed at the top of her lungs. “Daisy! Assaulting us in public and intentionally murdering the heir to this family! You are completely out of control!”Â
George finally snapped out of his daze as well. Pointing at me, he gritted his teeth and threatened, Since you don’t know what’s good for you, prepare to rot in prison!”Â
I didn’t flinch an inch at their frantic, desperate threats. Instead, gripping the microphone,1 let out a contemptuous laugh,Â
You think I’m the one going to prison? The people who should be rotting in a cell until they drop dead are you! Don’t trick yourselves into thinking I don’t know what sickening, twisted shit you’ve been doing behind closed doors!”Â
