He Flaunted His Mistress, Now He’s Going Mad Begging After Chapter 06
As Henry stepped out, whispers in the hallway drifted into his ears on the wind–neighbors gossiping about the wedding banquet that night.
“I heard the banquet at Mr. Windsor’s place turned into a disaster. That ex–wife was locked inside and almost…”
“Yeah, I heard her dress was completely torn to shreds…”
Keep your voice down. The news got covered up. They say some big shot took her away, even had the hospital records erased.”
Henry’s steps came to a sudden halt, his mind going completely blank.
What did that mean? Something happened at the banquet?
Did Harriet get hurt? Where was she now?
Without thinking twice, he rushed toward the garage like a madman.
His assistant’s call came through right at that moment.
“Mr. Windsor! Thank god you finally picked up!” The
assistant’s voice was nearly in tears. “Ms. Forbes sent a package to the company–the wedding dress she
made herself, and that wedding ring! Also, there’s an engraving on the ring.”
“What does it say…” Henry mumbled.
“We’re done. From now on, never see each other again, in life or death!”
Henry’s breath caught. “Something happened at the banquet? Why didn’t you tell me?”
The assistant fell silent for a few seconds, sounding hurt. “You personally ordered us before not to bother
with anything about Ms. Forbes, said even if she died, don’t come bothering you.”
“Last time I mentioned she was dumped in the suburbs, and you docked half a month’s pay from me.”
Henry’s head exploded with a buzzing sound.
Those awful things he’d said before now slapped him across the face like a hand.
Before he could catch his breath.
The assistant’s next words dragged him into an abyss.
And the company… Ms. Forbes sold off all her shares at rock–bottom prices! Our company’s stock value dropped nearly thirty percent. Now the supply chain is broken, creditors are blocking the door, you’ve had
your phone off for days, the cash flow is completely cut off–we’ll be bankrupt in less than two weeks!“
…What did you say?” Henry’s hand holding the phone wouldn’t stop shaking.
In his ears was the assistant’s panicked crying, but before his eyes flashed repeatedly the look Harriet had given him at the banquet–that final look.
The car keys slipped from his palm and hit the ground with a crisp sound. Henry’s vision went black, and he collapsed straight down.
