He Flaunted His Mistress, Now He’s Going Mad Begging After Chapter 05
The two of them stayed holed up at home for several days, completely wrapped up in each other.
Day and night blurred together, their schedule completely upside down.
Every meal was takeout, and trash piled up high in the living room without anyone bothering to clean it up.
“Honey, let’s have some wine today.”
Henry followed Briar’s gaze, and saw the bottle he’d placed in the center of the wine cabinet–the good wine that had been aged for over twenty years, given by Harriet’s family when she got married.
“Not that one.”
He had promised Harriet they would only drink it when their child was born.
But our baby says he wants some…” She looked at Henry with puppy–dog eyes, His gaze fell on her swollen belly, hesitating. “Well…”
“Please, honey…” Briar leaned in and kissed him, pulling his hand to her belly. “See, the baby’s kicking me.”
“Alright.”
After all, the child in Briar’s belly was his, and his
child was his and Harriet’s child.
After a few glasses, Henry was already feeling woozy
He leaned back, sinking into the soft sofa.
Maybe it was the wine, but he found himself thinking of Harriet.
He wondered if she’d behaved herself after being blocked for so long. Did she regret it?
Just then, his phone suddenly exploded with calls.
It was the company.
The company had called him countless times these past few days, and sent different people to look for him many times.
He was getting annoyed.
If Harriet wasn’t home, wasn’t she at the company?
Why were they looking for him?
Calling every day–what do you want?” He answered impatiently.
“Mr. Windsor, there’s a problem with the company’s supply chain, and the debt from the last order still hasn’t been settled… Now suppliers and partners are all showing up at our door!…”
He frowned. “Where’s Harriet?”
“Ms. Forbes, Ms. Forbes quit a long time ago! She said she’s done! Now the company’s debt keeps growing…
Mr. Windsor, Mr. Windsor, what do we do?”
“What’s the rush? She’ll be back in a few days.”
He hung up and irritably threw his phone on the coffee table.
As the alcohol hit him, he looked around the house they’d lived in for six years.
Every corner of the home bore Harriet’s mark.
The sofa was one she’d specially picked out after running around furniture stores, taking forever to choose because she knew his back wasn’t good.
The photo wall was covered with pictures documenting their journey together.
Their home used to always smell like jasmine.
But now, takeout boxes were piled like mountains, grease stained the carpet.
The air was filled with a strange smell–a mix of spoiled food and alcohol, disgusting and nauseating.
Before, this place was always spotless, there was always hot soup, always Harriet’s smile.
His chest suddenly felt tight, Henry’s throat constricted, and almost unconsciously he called out, Harriet.”
Not loud, but clear in the empty living room.
No response.
No one came out from the kitchen or bedroom like
usual, softly asking what was wrong, if he wanted water, if his head was hurting again.
Only dead silence.
Henry’s frown deepened, his tone growing more urgent. “Harriet!”
Still no answer.
Only then did Briar slowly emerge from the bedroom, scrolling on her phone, a smile still on her lips.
she didn’t even glance at the mess on the floor, just sweetly sidled up to him. “Honey, who are you calling?
Harriet left ages ago. Stop thinking about her, she’s so mean, she’s not worth missing…”
$he reached out to take his arm, but the moment her fingers touched him, he impatiently brushed her off.
The gesture wasn’t rough, but it was enough to make Briar stumble back half a step.
Her fake smile froze for a moment.
Henry didn’t look at her, his eyes fixed on the mess.
An unprecedented irritation and emptiness suddenly gripped his heart.
Only now did he realize.
Before, he never had to worry about whether the house was messy, the food cold, the clothes dry.
Harriet handled everything perfectly, stayed by his side all night when he came home drunk from business dinners, took on all the company’s problems when things fell apart.
And this woman beside him couldn’t do anything except act cute, cry, and ask for things.
Yet he enjoyed being around her.
Harriet was tough, patient, capable–every time she stood beside him, he felt overshadowed.
But with Briar, he felt completely relied upon, as if her whole world revolved around him.
He enjoyed this sense of conquest he never felt with Harriet.
But now, he suddenly realized that conquest couldn’t compare to thoughtfulness in daily life.
Henry suddenly discovered that he actually couldn’t live without Harriet.
He almost frantically unblocked Harriet, [Harriet, where are you?]
Two seconds after sending the message, he couldn’t wait and called.
The phone showed it was disconnected.
No reply to messages, phone turned off, even her old social media posts about him were all deleted.
Harriet had completely disappeared from his world.
The scene at the tattoo parlor, her numb expression when signing the divorce papers, her desperate look at the banquet…
One scene after another flooded his mind uncontrollably.
Henry’s fingers trembled.
He seemed to have… really gone too far.
After a long silence, he clenched his fist, that ridiculous pride and arrogance still propping up his ego.
…Forget it.”
We were married after all. Once she’s done throwing
her tantrum, she should calm down.”
I’ll go find her, sweet–talk her a bit, get her to come
back and clean up the company mess.”
With that, he pushed himself up from the sofa, his
eyes carrying a self–deceiving certainty.
Harriet loved him so much, stuck it out for six years
without leaving–if he just humbled himself and said something nice, she’d definitely come right back.
But the moment he took a step–Briar moved.
She clutched her belly and rushed over, her eyes instantly red. “Honey, where are you going? What
about me and the baby if you leave? It’s windy outside, I’m scared…”
She reached for his sleeve, but he sidestepped to avoid her.
After a few days of this, he was getting tired of Briar hot being as sensible as Harriet.
He looked down at her, his tone cold.
“That’s enough.”
“The company’s a mess. You can’t help me, so don’t hold me back.”
