You Taught Me How to Stary Chapter 06
Inside the villa.Â
Cedric’s phone rang.Â
“Is this a family member of Miss Josephine Brown? She’s not doing well. Could you please come and signÂ
some papers…”Â
Before the person could finish, Cedric shouted, ” Josephine, what kind of trick are you playing now? Did you get someone to put on an act with you?!Â
“If you want to die, just hurry up and die. Better yet, die far away from me and stay out of my sight!”Â
Vivian was pressed close to him and heard everything on the phone.Â
A sinister look flashed in her eyes.Â
“Cedric, maybe we should break up. I feel like Josephine’s mentally unstable. I’m scared that oneÂ
day she’ll come back and choke me again like she did last night…”Â
“Cedric, I’m so scared… I really didn’t mean to steal you away. I just see you as someone to rely on, but why can’t Josephine ever accept me?”Â
Vivian’s eyes filled with tears as she looked at Cedric pitifully.Â
Seeing her like this, Cedric’s heart softened.Â
He pulled Vivian into his arms.Â
“Don’t be scared, Vivian. I’m here, and I’ll never let her touch you!”Â
They gazed at each other lovingly.Â
The phone rang again.Â
Without even looking, Cedric answered and yelled, ” Josephine! Will you ever stop?!”Â
After a moment of silence, a panicked voice came through.Â
“Mr. Hale, this is bad! Company secrets have been leaked. Our proposal was copied by a competitor, and now our partner wants to cancel the contract!”Â
“What?!” Cedric’s face changed instantly as he pushed Vivian away. “I’m heading to the office right now!”Â
As soon as he arrived at the company, his assistantÂ
rushed over to report: “Mr. Hale, the person who stole the secrets was very careful. The surveillance only caught that it was a woman, but we can’t see her face.”Â
Cedric’s expression darkened.Â
“Keep investigating!”Â
With investors pulling out one after another, CedricÂ
had no choice but to swallow his pride and attend drinking parties to find new partners.Â
Just as he was about to leave, Vivian clung to him.Â
“Cedric, I want to come too. I want to help you through this difficult time.”Â
Hearing this, Cedric unconsciously thought of Josephine.Â
Years ago, when he was so broke he couldn’t even pay rent.Â
Back then, Josephine stayed by his side and said the same thing.Â
But now, even without her.Â
There was still a young, pretty girl willing to suffer with him.Â
Thinking this, Cedric agreed.Â
At the dinner party.Â
Cedric smiled the whole time, toasting everyone in turn.Â
Vivian sat beside him, not looking at him once.Â
She just chatted cheerfully with the potential partners in a soft voice,Â
When Cedric’s stomach started hurting and he really couldn’t drink anymore.Â
He signaled for Vivian to take a few drinks for him.Â
But Vivian just glanced at him and said sweetly, “Mr.Â
Hale, you’ve barely had anything! Keep drinking!”Â
Cedric’s heart clenched, but he said nothing.Â
Like a numb wooden puppet, he drank glass after glass.Â
If it were Josephine, she would definitely speak up for him.Â
She would never just watch him drink. She would stand in front of him.Â
Cedric suddenly snapped back to reality andÂ
immediately contradicted himself.Â
Vivian was a thousand times better than her. VivianÂ
was just young and innocent…Â
When the party ended.Â
Cedric had the driver take Vivian home first.Â
He went alone to the building where he and JosephineÂ
used to live in their rented apartment.Â
He stood there for a long time.Â
It wasn’t until late at night that he silently turned and left.Â
When he got home, his stomach was cramping. painfully.Â
But Vivian happily rushed up to him.Â
“Cedric, you’re finally back! Look, isn’t my diamond necklace beautiful?”Â
She tilted her neck up, showing off the necklace.Â
When Cedric didn’t respond.Â
She shook his arm playfully.Â
Completely ignoring that Cedric was already feelingÂ
so bad he could barely stand.Â
Cedric frowned, his voice hoarse.Â
“Vivian, my stomach hurts. Could you make some hangover soup…”Â
“What! Cedric, how can you ask me to do servant’s work?”Â
Vivian puffed out her cheeks and looked at Cedric.Â
Cedric froze, a dull ache in his chest.Â
Josephine’s gentle image popped into his mind again.Â
No matter how late he came home, Josephine would always wait quietly for him.Â
She would hand him a warm towel and clean pajamas,Â
She would personally make him hangover soup.Â
Cedric always said to just let the servants do it.Â
But Josephine wasn’t comfortable with that. She feltÂ
the servants weren’t careful enough.Â
Since he often had to drink at business dinners,Â
Josephine learned all kinds of hangover soups that were good for the stomach.Â
The worst time, to protect him, Josephine gritted herÂ
teeth and drank everyone at the table under the table,Â
and ended up unconscious for three days herself.Â
At this moment, Cedric finally admitted it–he missed Josephine.Â
If only Josephine would come back, he would definitely forgive her and let bygones be bygones.Â
As soon as Cedric walked into his study, an unfamiliar text message popped up:Â
