To Love the Alpha Who Wears My Mate’s Heart Chapter 01
My pack was on the verge of bankruptcy when Ryan
Mitchell, the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, swooped in
with thirty million dollars to save us. He had only one
condition: I would become his mate.
We’d been mated for three years now. Every year, he flew
overseas to spend Mia Davis’s birthday with her, his first love.
Around the pack, everyone said it was only a matter of
time before he broke the bond with me.
I never let it get to me. I just focused on doing what a
Luna was supposed to do.
Then came the pup problem. We still hadn’t had one.
Ryan found a drawer full of empty birth control pill bottles in my room.
He grabbed me by the throat, his eyes locked on the mark at the nape of my neck.
“I didn’t care that some other man marked you before,” he snarled. “But why won’t you carry my pup?”
I touched the scar across his chest and asked, flat and calm, “If I got pregnant, what would my pup call you?”
“Father… or the man who killed his father?”
The day Mia came back to the country happened to be our
third anniversary.
I’d heard she’d hit a wall with her business overseas and
was back begging for money.
So I sent her an invitation to our anniversary gala.
At the party, she went around, glass in hand, sucking up to
investors. When Ryan looked over, she was shrugging off her jacket.
And the scars on her back were on full display.
His eyes flinched. He turned away, almost ashamed.
No one knew she’d saved his life once. And the day she was driven out of the country, he hadn’t had the nerve to stop her.
“You’re happy now that she’s fallen this far, huh?” Ryan shot me a glance, something complicated in his gaze. “Women don’t have to tear each other down.”
I held his stare, my voice level. “You think I’m making things hard for her?”
He didn’t answer. Just took the wine glass out of my hand,
“You’re drinking again.”
“Don’t come crying to me when your stomach hurts.”
I almost laughed.
He’d forgotten that ever since he learned Mia was coming back, he’d stopped warming my stomach during my
attacks.
He spent his nights tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Until I slipped into his arms, only then could he stop
thinking about her. And only then could I find a moment’s
peace in the beat of his heart.
Ryan tore his gaze away from Mia and instinctively
tightened his grip on my waist.
So he does still care.
Burying my discomfort, I said, “Get me something to eat, would you? I’m hungry
He nodded and grabbed a random slice of mango cake.
I watched him take the cake, distracted and not even looking, and dropped it straight into the trash. I’m allergic to mangoes.
He didn’t notice. His eyes were still fixed on Mia.
She was being cornered by Jason Adams, Ryan’s sworn enemy. Wine bottles already littered the floor, crumpled bills stuffed into the front of her dress.
His first love, being humiliated.
This was going to hurt him.
Then Mia looked up at Jason and asked, “Mr. Adams,
there’s something in this drink, isn’t there?
Jason didn’t bother hiding it. He grinned, glancing at Ryan,
whose eyes were blazing red.
“Yeah, so what? Without Alpha Ryan throwing you scraps, you’re just a nobody Omega. I only toy with you, but what are you gonna do about it?”
Mia’s expression flickered, but she forced a smile. Took a deep breath, and raised the glass to her lips.
That was when Ryan finally snapped. In full view of everyone, he snatched the glass from her hand.
“Are you that desperate for money?” he hissed. “Will you sleep with anyone who pays?”
Mia’s eyes glistened, but she held her chin up. “Alpha Ryan, are you asking that ‘cause you want to get in my bed too? I don’t ask for much. Just give me back the cash your mother, Julia, threw in my face three years ago.”
Ryan froze. He stared at her, disbelief written all over his face.
“You.., you didn’t take my mom’s money?”
