They Faked her Death For Months, When I Truly Died, They Went Mad Chapter 05

They Faked her Death For Months, When I Truly Died, They Went Mad Chapter 05

I held Dad’s hand and told him the stories that belonged to just the two of us.

When I was little, he taught me to ride a bike. I fell eight

times, and he was more nervous than me. The year I failed an

exam in high school and was too scared to go home, he drove

along Frostmere’s old roads for two hours looking for me. And

before the crash, the last thing he shouted into the dashcam was my name.

When I got to the crash, the silver warmth began to waver.

My wolf was dragged back to the southern avalanche, the

empty ash boxes, and Ravenwater Bridge.

Look at him.” The witch’s voice cut in without warning. “Not the past.”

I bit my tongue and let the pain pull me back to the ward.

Near dawn, the brain waves on the monitor finally shifted.

Dad’s fingers moved faintly inside my palm.

Dad?”

His eyelids struggled open a crack, and his unfocused gaze

slowly found my face.

Rhoslyn…”

It was barely a whisper, and it made the tears come instantly

The silver warmth shook hard.

“Steady your wolf.” The witch warned through the mind link

“You still have one more person to save.”

I wiped at my tears desperately.

Dad tightened his grip, the way he always had when he saw me cry.

“Don’t… cry…”

At the sound of that familiar voice, my wolf found her footing again.

Doctor Vale rushed in with the nurses, checking Dad’s

returning pupil reflexes and independent breathing over and over, his face like he’d just witnessed an impossible miracle.

What exactly did you do?”

“I just held his hand and talked to him all night.”

He clearly didn’t believe me, but he couldn’t find another explanation.

had no time to explain further.

The witch had already told me through the mind link that

the remaining power was fading fast.

Mom’s injuries were worse than Dad’s. I had to begin the

second awakening immediately.

Doctor Vale refused at first to let me into Mom’s intensive

care room.

But Dad’s sudden recovery made it impossible for him to dismiss my method completely. In the end, he approved twelve hours of bedside care, with a nurse monitoring the whole time.

Mom’s hand was colder than Dad’s.

The moment my wolf sent the remaining power through my

palm, she let out a low, pained whine at Mom’s shattered. wolf–veins.

“Mom, it’s me.”

Dad’s awake now. Your turn.”

I didn’t retell her whole life from childhood to adulthood. I

only gave her the warmest memories.

She was always early to parent–teacher conferences. She

snuck chocolate into my schoolbag. She stood in the doorway

for one more look whenever I went out.

told her Dad still owed her an aurora trip, and I still owed her a graduation ceremony.

A few hours later, a message from Doctor Vale came through:

Dad was fully conscious and searching for me everywhere.

The joy nearly made my wolf lose control.

The witch’s voice came again from deep in the mind link.

“Good news can disturb the power too. Hold her hand and think of nothing.”

I put down the phone and kept my eyes on Mom.

By evening, the rate of her independent breathing was climbing.

Her fingers trembled at first, then slowly curled, and finally,

on her own, she held my hand.

I leaned over the bed and buried my face in her palm.

This time, I didn’t hold the tears back.

Mom’s wolf was awake.

The witch offered no congratulations and no explanation.

All that remained in the mind link was a faint murmur;

“Both lamps are lit. What they reveal, you’ll learn in time.”

After that, no matter how I called, she didn’t answer.
