The Reborn Luna’s Revenge Chapter 07
Thalia’s POVÂ
“Marcus,” I said, “And Freya. How… unexpected.”Â
Marcus stepped inside without invitation, his eyes scanning my small living room. “We need to talk,Â
Thalia.”Â
“I can see that.” I crossed my arms, staying near the door. “But why did you bring her?”Â
“Freya insisted on coming with me,” Marcus said.Â
I looked at Freya more closely, and that’s when I saw it. There, on her neck, was a fresh bite mark. A mating mark. The skin around it was still slightly swollen, clearly recent.Â
“I see congratulations are in order,” I said, nodding toward Freya’s neck. “And how are you feeling now?Â
All better, I assume?”Â
“Much better,” Freya said, “The marking process was very… healing.”Â
“That’s wonderful news,” I said. “So when will you be dissolving the mate bond with Freya, Marcus? Since she’s fully recovered now, there’s no reason to delay, right?”Â
The silence that followed was deafening.Â
Freya, however, had no such hesitation. She stepped forward, her eyes blazing with triumph.Â
“Actually, Thalia, there’s been a change of plans. I’m Marcus’s Luna now. His real Luna. And as his Luna, I‘ m here to demand that you return all of Blackstone pack’s assets immediately.”Â
“Excuse me?” I said.Â
“You heard me.” Freya’s smile widened. “Those assets belong to our pack, not to you. Hand them over. Now.”Â
I looked between Marcus and Freya, taking in Marcus‘ s guilty expression and Freya’s open hostility. The pretense was finally over.Â
“You know what?” I said, my own smile beginning to form. “You two really are perfect for each other.”Â
Marcus finally found his voice. “Thalia, please. Just listen to me for a minute.”Â
“Oh, I’m listening, Marcus. Please, tell me more about this change of plans.”Â
He ran a hand through his hair, looking more haggard than I’d ever seen him. “The pack situation… it’s worse than I told you. Much worse.”Â
“How so?”Â
“The elders are furious about the asset transfer. Half the pack members have lost faith in my leadership.Â
Some of them are even talking about challenging me for the Alpha position.”Â
I kept my expression neutral. “That sounds serious.”Â
“It is serious!” Marcus stepped closer, desperation creeping into his voice. “If the Western Territory Council reviews our pack’s standing and finds us financially compromised, we could be demoted to a third–tier pack. And if that happens…”Â
“What happens, Marcus?”Â
lose my Alpha status. The pack will elect a new leader, and I’ll be exiled. Thrown out with nothing.”Â
His voice cracked slightly. “Thalia, I’m begging you. I need those assets back. It’s the only way to prove to the pack that I haven’t betrayed them.”Â
I stared at him. Inside, I was practically dancing with joy. Everything was playing out exactly as I’d hoped.Â
“Let me understand this correctly,” I said slowly.”Â
You marked Freya, making her your Luna. You’ve essentially abandoned our agreement about reuniting.Â
And now you want me to give up the only security I have because your pack is angry with you?”Â
“That’s not… it’s not that simple,” Marcus stammered.Â
“Actually, it sounds pretty simple to me.” I shrugged. You chose Freya over me. Now you’re dealing with the consequences.”Â
Freya stepped forward again, her patience clearly wearing thin. “Stop playing games, Thalia. We all know you’re just being vindictive. Hand over those assets before this gets ugly.”Â
That’s when I started laughing.Â
The sound filled the small room, echoing off the walls.Â
Both Marcus and Freya stared at me like I’d lost my mind.Â
“Oh, Freya,” I said when I finally caught my breath. You really think I’m that stupid, don’t you?”Â
“What are you talking about?” Marcus demanded.Â
I wiped tears from my eyes, still chuckling. “You want to know what’s funny? You actually think I fell for your little performance.”Â
Marcus and Freya exchanged glances, and I could see the first flicker of uncertainty in their eyes.Â
“Thalia,” Marcus said carefully, “what performance?”Â
“The whole thing! The special wolf poison.”Â
Freya’s face went pale. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”Â
“Don’t you?” I stepped closer to her, “Tell me, Freya, exactly what kind of poison were you supposedly dying from?”Â
She opened her mouth, then closed it again, her eyes darting to Marcus for help.Â
“Because here’s the thing,” I continued, my voice getting stronger. “I did some research after Marcus told me about your condition. I reached out to healers from five different packs. Guess what? None of them have ever heard of a wolf poison that can only beÂ
cured by an Alpha’s mate mark.”Â
The silence that followed was absolute.Â
“That’s because it doesn’t exist.” I let each word hit them like a physical blow. “You made it up. Both of you. You’ve been lying to me from the very beginning.Â
Marcus’s face had gone ashen. “Thalia, you don’t understand-”Â
“Oh, I understand perfectly!” My voice rose to match the fury. “You wanted to have your cake and eat it too didn’t you, Marcus? Keep me around as your convenient wife while playing house with your precious Freya.”Â
“That’s not-”Â
“Shut up! I’m not finished.”Â
I looked at Freya, who was now cowering slightly behind Marcus.Â
Marcus was staring at me like he’d never seen me before. “Thalia, what are you saying?”Â
“I mean this was all part of my plan, Marcus. Every single bit of it. The mate bond dissolution, the asset transfer, me leaving the pack, all of it. And I decided to let you hang yourselves.”Â
“That’s impossible,” Freya breathed.Â
“Is it? Think about it, Freya. How easy was it to convince me to break the mate bond? How quickly did I agree to leave the pack? Did you really think I was that understanding, that selfless?” I laughed again. “I wanted you to take the bait.”Â
Marcus’s hands clenched into fists at his sides. “You‘ re lying.”Â
“Am I? Then explain to me how your pack members found out about the asset transfer so quickly. ExplainÂ
to me how word reached the elders before you evenÂ
had a chance to spin the story.” I stopped pacing andÂ
faced him directly. “I made sure they knew, Marcus. I wanted them to question your leadership.”Â
The color drained completely from Marcus’s face.Â
“You see, unlike you two, I’m not interested in playing games,” I continued. “I wanted revenge, and I wanted it to hurt. Watching you lose everything, your pack’s respect, your Alpha status, your future, that’s worth more to me than any amount of money.”Â
“You vindictive bitch!” Freya snarled, “We’ll make you pay for this!”Â
“How?” I challenged. “What are you going to do,Â
Freya? Tell everyone that your tragic poisoning story was a lie? Admit that you manipulated an Alpha into abandoning his Luna for a fabricated emergency?”Â
She opened her mouth but no words came out.Â
“And you, Marcus,” I turned to face him. “What’s your plan? Tell your pack that you were tricked by your own wife? That you dissolved a mate bond andÂ
transferred massive assets based on a lie you chose to believe because it got you what you wanted?”Â
Marcus’s jaw worked silently, rage and desperation warring across his features.Â
“The beautiful thing about revenge,” I said conversationally, “is that I didn’t actually have to do anything illegal or underhanded. I just gave you enough rope to hang yourselves. And you did it beautifully.”Â
“That’s enough!” Marcus roared, his control finally snapping completely. “I don’t care what game you think you’re playing, but this ends now!”Â
He took a step toward me, his hands reaching out, and for the first time since this confrontation began, I felt a flicker of real fear. Marcus was bigger than me, stronger, and the fury in his eyes suggested he was past caring about consequences.Â
“You’re coming back with us,” he snarled. “Right now.Â
And you’re going to transfer every single asset back to the pack, or I swear I’ll-”Â
“You’ll what?” I interrupted, backing toward the stairs. “Force me? Drag me back to your pack against my will? That should go over really well with the Western Territory Council.”Â
“I don’t care about the Council!” Marcus lunged forward. “You belong to me!”Â
“Guards!” I called out loudly. “Now!”Â
The thundering of heavy footsteps filled the house as four Delta guards poured down the stairs, their presence instantly transforming the atmosphere.Â
Marcus froze mid–step, his eyes widening as he took in the sight of four armed wolves positioned protectively around me.Â
“What the hell?” Freya gasped.Â
“Insurance,” I said, “Did you really think I’d face you alone?”Â
The lead guard, a stern–faced man with graying temples, stepped forward. “Is there a problem here, ma’am?”Â
“Alpha Marcus and his companion were just leaving,” I replied smoothly. “They seem to have gotten a bitÂ
confused about their welcome.”Â
Marcus looked between the guards and me, his fists still clenched. “This isn’t over, Thalia.”Â
“Actually, it is.” I met his gaze steadily. “It was overÂ
the moment you chose to lie to me instead of trusting me with the truth.”Â
“Let’s go,” Freya hissed, tugging at Marcus’s arm. $heÂ
was eyeing the guards nervously, clearly recognizing that the balance of power had shifted dramatically.Â
Marcus allowed himself to be pulled toward the door, but his eyes never left mine.Â
They were almost to the door when it suddenly swung open, revealing Leo.Â
