The Mafia Princess Who Lived In A Bubble Chapter 07
The video fast–forwarded to day three.
I rolled on the floor with hunger, clutching my stomach, and
crawled painfully toward the fridge.
When the fridge door opened, the smell made me gag, but I
still grabbed handfuls of mold–covered food, shoved them in
my mouth, threw up, and shoved them back in.
Mom… when are you coming back…”
ate and cried at the same time, my faint voice making
everyone in the room lower their heads.
Next came the call to Dad.
Dad, I’m very hungry.”
On the other end, Mom’s voice came through sharply.
Are you not satisfied until you ruin Livia’s graduation trip?”
Fiorella, you dare set one foot past that security door!”
In the video, my hand, already reaching toward the window,
snapped back as if burned.
I curled up in the corner in despair, like a small animal
abandoned by the whole world.
“Don’t watch any more…“.
Mom lunged to snatch the terminal away, but Dad shoved
her back hard.
“What right do you have not to watch?”
Dad’s eyes were bloodshot, and his voice sounded like he was
passing sentence on a traitor to the family.
“This is what we did to her. Not a single frame gets skipped.”
The recording reached day four, the last day of my life.
lay beside the filth, my body twitching, and used the last of
my strength to get the call through.
Mom… it hurts…”
The speaker carried the sound of waves and clinking glasses,
and the words that pierced everyone present.
Make one more call, and when I get home I’ll put you in a
care facility. I’ll never take care of you again.”
The dial tone kept echoing through the empty villa.
In the footage, I slowly found Mom’s coat, held it tight to my
chest, and gave the darkness a weak smile.
“Mom, I won’t call anymore. Please don’t stop wanting me.”
Then my hand dropped completely, and never moved again.
The recording ended.
The dining room was dead silent, with only Dad’s heavy
breathing and Mom’s muffled sobs.
“Smack!”
Dad suddenly slapped himself hard across the face.
“I’m a monster.‘
“I killed her.”
He slapped himself again and again, until his lip split open.
Renzo moved to stop him, but a single look from Dad drove him back.
Mom slumped to the floor, staring at the stiff figure in the
footage, then suddenly beat her chest like a madwoman.
“It was me. I killed my own daughter with my own hands!
Why did I threaten to abandon her?”
She crawled and stumbled back to the dining room and
threw her arms around the body that had already begun to decay.
Fiore, Mommy was wrong. Mommy won’t send you away.
Mommy will take you to eat strawberry cake, okay?”
She grabbed the smashed cake from the travel bag and
pressed it desperately against my sealed lips.
Eat it. It’s your favorite strawberry cake.”
Cream mixed with dust and filth smeared across my face.
The family doctor and nurses had to pull Mom away, and
they gently wrapped me in a white body bag.
The moment the zipper closed, I felt my last connection to
this world cut off too.
Livia stayed curled in the corner the whole time.
Only when the medical team carried the body past her did
she snap back to reality and lunge to grab a corner of the bag.
Sis, don’t go. I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to. I never thought it
would come to this.”
She cried until her voice went hoarse.
“I’m the one who insisted on the trip. I’m the one who treated
you like a burden. Come back, okay? I won’t go to university.
I’ll stay home and be with you every day.”
Two caregivers pulled her away, but she crawled back and lunged again, her knees slamming into the tiles.
Dad didn’t help her up.
He stood still, staring at his own hands for a long time, then
clenched them into fists and slammed them into his thighs.
His voice came out dry and hoarse, “She called so many times,
and I never believed her once.”
Livia looked up, her lips trembling as if she wanted to say something.
But Dad turned to face the wall, pressed his forehead against
it, his shoulders shaking beyond control.
Every capo and enforcer in the room bowed their heads in silence.
