The Mafia King Never Expected a Bride Like Me Chapter 10
Lyra’s POV
Time flew by, and soon it was Christmas.
A private jet blazoned with the Hawthorne family crest soared through the sky. I sat in a luxurious
leather seat, watching the clouds, my heart beating inexplicably fast.
We were heading back to the Kingsley estate to see my mother, and my sister, Elara, who had just given birth.
Felix sat across from me, his long, elegant fingers flipping through a file, but out of the corner of his eye, he instantly caught my tension.
“Nervous?” he asked, putting the file down. A faint *smirk that even he didn’t realize graced his lips.
I instantly sat up straight, defensively retorting, “Are you kidding me? Why would I be scared of my own mother? I’m just… calculating how I’m going to shoot
down her outdated traditional lectures.” Yet, when the Maybach finally parked in front of the Kingsley mansion, my hand froze precisely on the car door handle.
I hesitated, unable to step out.
“If there’s danger, you can hide behind me,” Felix murmured, leaning closely behind me. His deep voice carried a hint of teasing as his large hand comfortably covered my stiff one.
Before I could protest, the intimidating mafia don undeniably pulled me forward, firmly leading me through the front doors.
“Well, look who it is. Our busy VIP who couldn’t even be bothered to answer my calls finally knows the way home?”
The second I stepped inside, my mother’s signature sarcastic tone hit me.
But surprisingly, her eyes lacked their usual hostility. Instead, they were slightly red, and her gaze kept secretly darting toward me, solidly held by Felix.
was about to respond when my eyes locked onto the scene on the other side of the living room.
My sister, Elara, was leaning on the sofa, her face glowing with a gentle smile. And right beside her… Orion Graves.
The man who, in my past life, wouldn’t lift a finger without a servant doing it for him, was currently holding a baby!
He was expertly changing a diaper, his face as seriously focused as if he were negotiating a multi–billion dollar international contract!
Not far away, on the dining table, several steaming dishes sat ready–all seasoned perfectly to Elara’s taste.
“The water isn’t too hot, have a sip.” Orion handed Elara a glass, his eyes practically melting with absolute adoration.
I was completely speechless. So it turns out, some people aren’t naturally cold. They just hadn’t met the person who would make them willingly change.
I couldn’t help but look at Orion a few more times, genuinely, profoundly happy for my sister.
Right at that moment, a hot breath brushed against my ear, dripping with extremely potent jealousy.
“Stop looking at him. I’ve already learned how to make your favorite seafood risotto. You’ve just been too busy lately to let me show off.” turned my head in shock, meeting Felix’s deep, intensely “unhappy” dark gaze.
This terrifying boss of the underworld was acting like a jealous, petty dog fighting for attention. He lowered his voice, dangerously whispering in my ear:
“I can learn how to change diapers, too. If that’s what you want, we can start making one right now.
My face burned instantly. I stomped hard directly on his polished shoe, gritting my teeth. “Shut up! Who wants to have a kid with you!”
After the visit, we flew back to Marconi City.
The year–end turf wars over the black market had been brutal. For seventeen straight days, I’d lived between the ports and boardrooms, grinding non–stop, turning myself into a cold, ruthless money–making machine.
Late that night, I finally pushed open the door to the master bedroom, bone–deep exhaustion weighing on every muscle.
My breath caught. I froze.
The room was bathed in the flickering glow of sultry, scented candles. Standing beside the bed was the most feared mafia godfather in Marconi City.
Felix’s powerfully built, explosive physique was barely covered by a loosely draped white towel. Beads of water traced down his sharp jawline, sliding over the hard ridges of his abs and the deep V of his hips. He looked dangerously, illegally sexy.
But the real threat was the nightstand–laden with beautifully wrapped, provocatively explicit adult toys that gleamed under the candlelight.
His dark eyes locked onto me instantly. His Adam’s
apple bobbed, and his voice came out low, rough, and thick with barely restrained hunger:
“Lyra. You’ve neglected me for seventeen days.”
The air thickened, charged with raw testosterone as he stalked toward me, every movement coiled with pent–up need.
But my brain was still drowning in ledgers and cargo manifests. Exhaustion won.
“I’m sorry, Felix… not tonight. I’m just… really-
My words slurred. Before he could reach me, I tilted forward and face–planted straight into the soft sofa, blacking out in under two seconds.
In a hazy, half–conscious fog, I felt a scorching–hot body lift me with surprising gentleness and careful restraint, carrying me to the bed.
A large, calloused hand gave my cheek a light, possessive pinch–half punishment, half frustration -before tucking the blanket around me with helpless tenderness.
I cracked one eye open just enough to see the most dangerous man in the underworld perched on the edge of the bed. He looked exactly like a massive, deeply wronged guard dog whose owner had forgotten him.
His frustrated gaze kept drifting to the untouched toys on the nightstand. A heavy, ragged sigh escaped him.
As sleep pulled me under, one last dangerous thought drifted through my mind: Crap. I really have neglected him for far too long while chasing my empire.
Tomorrow morning, I was going to have to find a way to appease one very sexually frustrated, thoroughly riled–up mafia boss.
