The Mafia King Never Expected a Bride Like Me Chapter 05

The Mafia King Never Expected a Bride Like Me Chapter 05

Lyra’s POV

The woman who just dragged me off a bridge like an actual psychopath was now thrashing exaggeratedly in the water

On the riverbank, the sound of leather shoes crunching wildly on gravel rapidly approached. Felix and his men had arrived

Making him choose one? *In your dreams.* I was absolutely not giving him the chance to play her hero

I took a deep breath, split through the freezing currents, and swam straight back toward the shore

Out of the corner of my eye, Vesper was tirelessly performing her drowning act, flailing her arms

*God, she makes me sick.* I abruptly changed direction, charging straight toward her like a shark cutting through the waves

What are you doing?! He-Vesper’s eyes widened in terror

Before she could finish screaming, I grabbed the back collar of her white dress in a death grip. With massive force, I yanked her head right out of the water

Shut up! I roared

Ignoring her violent struggling, I dragged her single- handedly like a trash bag, trudging through the mud and violently hauling her onto the bank. With a heavy thud, I slammed her down onto the gravelly shore

The second I stood up, a black coat smelling of cedarwood dropped onto my shoulders

Felix was standing right in front of me, his chest heaving heavily. His dark eyes locked onto my pale lips, his warm hands instinctively gripping my soaking wet shoulders

But a second later, his gaze uncontrollably flickered toward Vesper, who was shivering on the ground

My eyes turned cold. I ruthlessly swatted his hands away

Don’t touch me.I pointed at the violently coughing Vesper, my voice like ice. **Felix, if you dare take half a step toward her right now, I’m walking out of the estate tonight and I am never coming back!

Felix fell silent

Vesper’s eyes widened in disbelief. She crawled toward him, reaching out her hand like a broken doll. Felix…. why aren’t you helping me? Lyra went crazy! She pulled me into the watershe tried to kill me!”

The bodyguards started whispering. Aurelia jumped forward, pointing right at my nose, screeching, Felix! See?! See how manipulative this woman is?! She’s holding a grudge over what Vesper said at the wedding. She wants her dead!”

Every single eye turned to Felix

Just as Aurelia looked triumphant and Vesper looked hopeful-

Felix stood next to me, his tone calm but piercing through the entire crowd: **I believe her.**

My heart fiercely tightened. Since I had known him, this was the first time this coldblooded mafia don had entirely, unconditionally stood by my side..

The mask on Vesper’s face cracked instantly. Youbelieve her?She even forgot to cry. I’m the victim here!”

Felix looked down, his gaze completely devoid of warmth. Vesper, I remember you being the star of your university’s swim team.”

His voice was deep, cutting like a surgical scalpel. Two years ago, you even saved a drowning child from a deep lake and received a medal from the city.”

Dead silence

Felix’s eyes were icy: Since you’re such a strong swimmer, you could have easily swam ashore yourself. Why were you faking cries for help in the water?”

Aurelia froze, stammering, RightVesper, why didn’t you just swim up?”

Vesper’s face lost all color. Frantically clawing at the gravel, she gritted her teeth and pointed at me, grasping at straws: It was her! Lyra was holding me down underwater! How was I supposed to swim when couldn’t break free?!”

Before she could even finish her sentence, I took massive step forward.

Two sharp, ringing slaps lashed back and forth across her face

You hit me?!Vesper shrieked, clutching her rapidly swelling cheek

Do I need to pick a freaking date to hit you?!** I looked down at her, my eyes filled with utter disdain

Completely enraged, Vesper lunged up like a wild animal. You bitch! I’ll kill you!”

I sneered, perfectly intercepted her wrist, and used her momentum to shove her hard backward

Vesper crashed humiliatingly down into the mud once again

The night wind whipped the hem of my coat. I stared

into her venomous eyes, dropping a final warning in an icy voice loud enough for the entire crowd to hear

Vesper, listen to me very carefully. The next time you try to frame me with such a cheap trick

I won’t just be slapping your face.
