The Divorce He Refused to Sign Chapter 01

The Divorce He Refused to Sign Chapter 01

I came home from my mafia husband’s consigliere’s wedding and asked for a divorce

Don Julian Romano frowned, looking confused

Is this because the bride was Isabella Rossi?”

Isabella Rossi used to be Julian’s secretary three years

ago. They had been sneaking around behind my back until I caught them and put a stop to it

Julian ran a frustrated hand through his hair

She just married my brother! You really think I’d start things up with her again?”

If you’re that paranoid, I won’t attend any family

events where she’ll be. How’s that?”

I gave him a mocking smile and slid the divorce papers across the table

No need for all that. Just sign.”

This marriage built on lies was over

Julian stared at me, then pulled out his phone and handed it over

Look.”

Every password is your birthday.”

He thought I was spiraling again and needed reassurance

Ever since I caught him fucking Isabella on the desk in his study, this had been our routine

His phone was always open to me. His schedule synced with mine. He brought me to every charity gala and family meeting

It was all supposed to prove his loyalty. To make me feel safe

But I didn’t take the phone

I knew even if I tore it apart, I wouldn’t find anything. That didn’t mean he wasn’t cheating. It

just meant he had a burner phone hidden in the

secret compartment at the bottom of my 1. rie drawer

Julian tossed the phone onto the bed with total confidence and headed straight for the shower

The water turned on

I walked into the closet, lifted the panel, and found it

Sure enough, it was locked. I typed in Isabella’s birthday without hesitation

Her photo was on the lock screen. Her photo was the wallpaper

The entire album was filled with her

Ten minutes earlier, she had texted him

Why did you leave the reception early? Is that old bitch causing problems again?”

We had a dealI married Marco so she’d stop

breathing down our necks. You owe me a honeymoon night.”

My chest tightened, but I didn’t back down

I had found this phone a week ago

I already knew today’s wedding was just a show so they could sneak around without leaving a trace

I kept scrolling. The truth kept spilling out

The first message dated back exactly three

That was the day I first asked for a divorce after catching him cheating.

To stop me from leaving, he slashed his wrists with

razor in the bathroom. He grabbed my hand tighteyes bloodshot

Baby, I swear I’ll change. We’ll start over.”

I softened. And what happened? Two hours after they

patched him up, he was texting Isabella again

A sharp pain twisted in my gut, but it was nothing compared to what came later

I had saved every single message

Julian stepped out of the bathroom, still trailing

steam, and pulled me into his arms. His warm breath brushed my neck

I already told you, nothing’s going on. You still don’t trust your husband?”

I pushed him away and tapped the divorce papers

You’re done showering. Sign them. I hate dragging things out.”

His face darkened instantly

I gave you my phone. I have no secrets from you

What more do you want? How long are you punish me for the past?”

Marco won’t approve of this bullshit.‘

Marco was his Consigliere and his best friend.

In my eyes, he used to be fair. Whenever I caught

Julian messing up, Marco always took my side

chewed him out, and made him apologize

The family joked that the Don’s consigliere was basically my personal bodyguard

All the while, he was helping Julian and Isabella cover

their tracks, making sure I never discovered they had been carrying on the entire time

Another wave of pain hit me. I stayed silent

Julian’s phone rang

It’s Marco. I have to take this. Something might’ve

happened in the Family.”

He was already turning to leave as he spoke

Marco sounded drunk and loud

For Christ’s sake, mighty Don Julian Romano. You

ditched my wedding night early

you still call

yourself my brother?”

Ten minutes. Show your face, or you’re dead to me.”

Julian muttered an apology and hung up

He turned back, jaw tight

No one’s loyalty can withstand being tested like this forever. I’m exhausted, Rory. I can’t keep doing this.”

Stay if you want. And think about everything you’ve done.”

I didn’t even get a chance to stop before he walked out

The door slammed shut

I sat in the empty bedroom for a long time, then

dialed a number I hadn’t called in years

Mom. I lost. He wasn’t worth any of it. I’m coming

home to take over the Family. Send a car for me in seven days.
