The Alpha’s Forgotten Daughter Chapter 08
I pushed open the security office door. A stainless steel thermos flew straight at me and smashed against.
the wall by my feet.
“You ungrateful, worthless brat! You dare show your face?!”
Dad’s eyes were bloodshot. He jabbed a finger at me, shaking with fury.
“Pack your things and get your ass home right now!”
Mom sat on the couch, wiping tears and smearing her perfect makeup, her accusations sharp and piercing.
“Claire, your sister hasn’t eaten properly for two days. How can you be this selfish? You stole money
from home and ran away–do you have no conscience left at all?!”
Ethan crossed his arms and turned to apply pressure on the advisor.
“Professor, she’s a liar–she lies about
everything. She changed her applications without telling anyone and stole twenty grand from us. And you people are just letting her stay?! Expel her! Now! We’re dragging her home!”
Mr. Finch’s brow furrowed. He instinctively
stepped in front of me.
“Folks, we haven’t looked into any of this yet. I’m
gonna need you to lower your voices and stop with the personal attacks.”
“Mr. Finch, it’s fine.”
I calmly stepped around him and faced the three
people who shared my blood.
“I stole money?”
I let out a cold laugh, unzipped my backpack, and pulled out a stack of documents I’d prepared long ago. I slapped them onto the coffee table.
“This is a copy of my full scholarship certificate to United Wolf Packs Alpha Academy. These are copies of my two tutoring contracts since I arrived, and here are the full bank statements for my account.”
My gaze cut into their shifty eyes.
“From the day I graduated high school until now, I haven’t taken a single cent from you.”
Exposed in public, Dad’s face cycled through shades of purple and white, his chest heaving. “You think waving some papers around changes anything? I’m telling you right now—I’m not paying a dime for this. Let’s see how long you last without our money. You’re withdrawing. Today!”
“Cut off my living expenses?”
I looked at him like he’d just told the funniest joke.
“Dad, you seem to forget–ever since junior high,
when you shipped me off to that military combat camp, you gave me three hundred bucks a month.”
It wasn’t even enough for training gear. I survived by collecting cans and tutoring classmates in combat
drills.
And now you think you can threaten me with money? Don’t you find that absurd?”
“Claire!”
Ethan snarled, his face red with rage.
“Stop digging up old shit!
Maya has a fragile constitution. As her big sister,
isn’t it your responsibility to yield to her and take care of her?
You ran off to the United Wolf Packs without a word and humiliated our entire pack!”
“Responsibility?” I turned my stare on him.
“Was it my responsibility to watch my clothes and
my acceptance letter get tossed in the trash? Was it my responsibility to sit under a graduation banner with only Maya’s name on it? Was it my responsibility to watch her climb into a car with five suitcases while I
stood on the curb and hailed my own cab to the airport?”
Mom shot to her feet, voice climbing. “She’s your
sister, Claire! She’s always been delicate—you know
that! Why can’t you ever just be nice to her?! This is jealousy. Pure jealousy!““.
“I’m jealous that she can’t survive without me as her full–time nanny?”
I stepped closer, watching them stumble backward, my voice so cold it could freeze.
“You didn’t come here because you care. You came
here because you’re pissed. Your puppet broke. That’s what this is.”
“Maya lost her punching bag–the one person she
could stomp on and never face a single consequence!”
Silence swallowed the security office. My
ruthlessness ripped away every shred of their hypocritical mask.
The three of them stood there, mouths gaping, humiliated into speechlessness.
“Since you’re so eager to tear everything apart, let’s settle this once and for all.”
I picked up my phone from the table. The screen
displayed an active call with the police.
“I’ve already called the cops. You accused me of theft–so let’s let the police investigate and get to the bottom of it!”
The second Dad lunged forward in blind rage to
snatch my phone, Ethan’s pocket started buzzing frantically.
He yanked it out, answered–and in a heartbeat, every drop of color drained from his face. His voice cracked.
“What did you say?! Maya got into a fight in her
dorm–she pushed her roommate down the stairs and
she’s in the ICU?!”
