Sold My Fiance, Crashed His Wedding Chapter 06
The wedding venue is still in chaos. Guests film on their phones. #WhitmoreWeddingScandal is trending.Â
Julian doesn’t care.Â
Celeste’s on the ground, grabbing at his leg. “Julian, I can explain…”Â
Julian shakes her off. Doesn’t even look.Â
Mr. Winters rushes forward. “Mr. Whitmore, our business deals…”Â
“They’re done,” Julian cuts him off. “Every single one.Â
Terminated. I’ll cover the penalties.”Â
Mr. Winters goes pale.Â
The stepmother won’t stop. “But Scarlett wanted this!Â
She took the money herself!”Â
Julian turns, his stare cold. “So you sold her off. Perfect.”Â
He tells security, “Get the Winters family out of here.Â
They’re banned from every Whitmore property.”Â
Julian’s mother grabs his arm. “Julian, calm down.Â
Do you have any idea what this is doing to our reputation?”Â
“Reputation?” Julian’s laugh is cold. “You replaced my bride to save face. Now you care about it?”Â
His mother tries again. Julian cuts her off. “I don’t need ‘suitable.‘ I’ve only ever wanted one person.”Â
He leaves. Celeste screams after him. “Why?! What does she have that I don’t?!”Â
Julian stops. Doesn’t turn around. “Because you’re not her. You’ll never be her.”Â
The car speeds away from the estate. Julian dials.Â
Scarlett’s number.Â
Still turned off.Â
“The office,” he tells the driver. “I need to find her.”Â
Back at the office, Julian mobilizes every resource he has.Â
“Track that flight. Find out exactly where she landed.”Â
The assistant brings another report. “One more thing.Â
Scarlett applied for her visa three weeks ago.”Â
Julian looks up. “Three weeks?”Â
Yes. Before the club incident.”Â
Julian freezes.Â
Three weeks ago. Back when she was attending family dinners. Changing into the dresses he picked out. Saying “yes, Julian.”Â
She was already planning to leave.Â
Julian closes his eyes.Â
The pieces come together.Â
When she said “I’m not marrying you” at the club, it wasn’t a tantrum. It was the truth.Â
When she looked at him after nearly freezing to death, it wasn’t resentment. It was detachment.Â
When she said “I’m your fiancée” that night, it wasn’t anger. It was her last stand.Â
And he thought she’d stay forever. Thought his control would always work.Â
Julian stands. “The Winters house. I want to see her room.”Â
The housekeeper takes him to Scarlett’s room.Â
The door opens. Julian stops.Â
Empty.Â
The closet only has the dresses he made her wear. Nude tones. Beige suits. Everything he called “appropriate.”Â
Her things are gone. The colorful dresses. Her books. Her photos. All of it,Â
The housekeeper says quietly, “Miss Scarlett started packing weeks ago. We thought she was organizing…”Â
Julian sees the vanity. The pearl jewelry he gave her sits there, perfectly arranged.Â
She didn’t take any of it.Â
She only took what was hers.Â
Julian remembers the ten–million–dollar transfer.Â
That means before he “taught her a lesson,” before he had security lock her outside in the cold, she’d alreadyÂ
planned everything.Â
She stayed because she was waiting for the visa.Â
The realization hits like a knife to the chest.Â
The next three days, Julian barely sleeps.Â
Day one, he mobilizes every resource. Private investigators. Security firms. Hackers.Â
Nothing.Â
Day two, the ashtray in his office overflows. He doesn’t smoke, but he’s gone through half a pack.Â
“How does a person just vanish?!”Â
His assistant’s voice shakes. “She might be using cash.Â
Or someone’s helping her,”Â
Day three, 3 AM. His assistant bursts in.Â
“We found her!”Â
Julian’s head snaps up.Â
The assistant hands him a tablet.Â
The photo shows Scarlett outside an underground racing club. Leather jacket. Jeans. Hair pulled back. Smiling like she’s free.Â
Julian’s never seen that smile.Â
He stands. “Get the plane ready. Now.”Â
Julian’s mother storms into the office. “Are you out of your mind? You’re throwing away everything for one girl?”Â
I don’t care.” Julian grabs his coat. “Legal can handle the Winters family. I’m going to find her.”Â
