Sacrificed to My Sister: The Mate They Stole From Me Chapter 08
Gideon Locke was waiting outside High Council Hall when I left work.
He stood on the steps in a charcoal coat, his hair tousled by the wind.
When he saw me, he came forward. His lips parted, but at first no words came out.
I stopped.
Harper,” he finally said, his voice lower than I remembered.
said nothing.
He moved closer, searching my face.
How did you find me?” I asked.
“Your father caused a scene in the street. Someone posted a
video on the academy network. I recognized the skyline.”
He paused.
I took the train. It was a two hour trip.”
I let the silence answer for me.
He pulled an envelope from inside his coat. When I made no
move to take it, he held it between us.
“I know it’s too late, but I didn’t understand what your family was really like.”
“Ellie told you I was controlling. That I took whatever I wanted, including your contact information. And you believed every word.”
The last trace of color left his face.
“So you went along with her.”
He had no answer.
“What about the library? You agreed to meet me, but Kaelen
was waiting there to record my humiliation for the entire pack. Was that a joke too?”
His eyes went strangely empty.
That day, Ellie told me it was just a prank. She said I should help teach you a lesson.”
“And
you did.”
He remained silent.
“You weren’t fooled, Gideon. You knew exactly what was
happening. You just chose the side that was easier for you.”
I walked around him.
He followed, his voice catching.
“I want to make this right. Give me another chance.”
I kept walking.
“You already had one. You threw it away the moment you chose them over me.”
