Revenge Wedding With the Mafia Queen Chapter 05

Revenge Wedding With the Mafia Queen Chapter 05

Sean’s POV

Max whipped around, glaring at the crowd with startling intensity.

“Who was it?!” he growled, his childish voice dripping with venom. “Who hurt my Daddy?!”

Vivian stumbled backward, knocking over a chair.

Her mouth hung open, soundless.

Heavy footsteps echoed.

Lucia approached.

She didn’t run. Didn’t rush. Just walked, step by step, slow and steady–each footfall like a hammer to everyone’s heart.

She knelt beside me, silent.

She studied my swollen face. The blood at the corner of my mouth. My torn shirt.

Finally, her gaze settled on the burned skin of my left shoulder–the rose she had tattooed herself, now ruined.

Lucia said nothing. Just watched, her fingers lightly brushing the wound.

I knew what her silence meant. It meant something

far worse was coming.

Brandon watched the reactions around him, mind racing. A flicker of hope crossed his eyes.

“Miss!” He hurried forward, forcing an obsequious

smile. “You must be one of Don Lucia’s people, right? Her secretary? Or a senior assistant?”

Lucia lifted her gaze to him. Said nothing.

Brandon thought he’d guessed right. His smile. widened. “I was just… testing him! Making sure he really was the real Mr. Salvatore! After all, someone of his status can’t let some fraud ruin his name, right?

Everyone else stayed silent, watching him like he was already dead.

He grew more animated: “You know how it is–so many fakes pretending to be family lately! I was helping! Protecting the Salvatore reputation!”

“Yeah!” Andre chimed in, nodding eagerly. “We were helping you!”

“He looked so suspicious!” Brandon went on, pointing at me. “And this man–he was hitting on my wife! A man with no morals! How could he possibly be Mr. Salvatore?”

He grew more smug, as if he’d done some great service: “Miss, you should be thanking me! If I hadn’t exposed him, he might’ve fooled even Don Lucia!”

Lucia still didn’t speak. Just watched him perform.

Brandon lost himself in the fantasy: “If Don Lucia knew how much I helped, maybe she’d reward me! Miss, could you introduce me? I’d love to meet the real Mr. Salvatore, learn from him-”

then-

“shut up!”

Vivian suddenly roared.

She lunged forward and kicked Brandon hard.

Brandon shrieked as he hit the floor, chair clattering beside him. He stared at her in disbelief. “Have you lost your mind? Why kick me?!”

Vivian ignored him. She dropped to her knees before Lucía, forehead pressed to the floor.

“I didn’t know! I truly didn’t know he was your husband!”

Her voice trembled, choked with tears. “Please… spare my life…”

Brandon froze. He scrambled up, looking from the kneeling Vivian to Lucia.

“Vivian, what are you doing?” His voice was confused, “She’s just an assistant… Why bow to her?”

Vivian gritted her teeth. “Assistant? You idiot! She is Don Lucia Salvatore!”

The air went still.

Brandon’s face turned ghostly white.

“No… that’s impossible…” He took a step back. “You…

you can’t be…”

Lucia finally spoke, her voice terrifyingly calm: “What was it you said earlier? That you were helping me?”

Brandon’s legs shook violently.

“And that I should thank you?” Lucia rose and stepped toward him. “Because you burned my husband with coffee? Melted the tattoo I inked into his skin? Slapped his face?”

With every word, Brandon retreated.

“Don… Don Salvatore… I… I didn’t mean to…” His voice was almost a beg. “I really thought he was a fraud…” ་་

“Maria.” Lucia called softly,

A bodyguard stepped forward and handed her a phone. Lucia put it on speaker and dialed.

It rang three times before connecting.

“Miss Salvatore?” The voice of the Moretti family head came through, puzzled. “Calling so late-”

“Mr. Moretti,” Lucia cut in, her tone deceptively gentle, icy cold, “your daughter Vivian groped my husband in public.”

Silence for three seconds.

Then an enraged roar: “What?! Where is that fool?!”

“And your daughter’s husband, Brandon–he burned my husband. Destroyed his tattoo. Slapped his face.”

“No! Impossible!” The Rossi family head’s voice shook. “Don Salvatore, please… give me a chance to handle this!”

Lucia hung up before he could finish.

She turned to Brandon and Vivian. “Both your families–all your port business, casinos, every asset… I’ll make sure they’re bankrupt by morning.”

“No!” Brandon dropped to his knees, kowtowing wildly. “You can’t! Don Salvatore, please! Our families) have served for generations-”

“Not anymore.” Lucia said coolly, “Take them away.”

Vivian slumped to the floor like a dead fish, Brandon clung to her leg, sobbing, but she just stared ahead, hollow–eyed.

They were finished. Completely.

Lucia turned, bending to help me up. “Let’s go home.”

“Wait.” A small, firm voice spoke.

Max walked up to Brandon, still kneeling on the ground.

Brandon saw the cute little boy and a last flicker of hope lit his eyes. He reached out a trembling hand. ”

Sweetheart… please… please put in a good word for me…”

Max tilted his head. “Mister, why did you hit my Daddy?”

“I… I didn’t mean to…” Brandon’s voice turned soft,

pleading. “It was an accident… I thought he was a bad guy… I was wrong… I’ll never do it again…”

“An accident?” Max repeated, voice innocent.

“Yes, yes!” Brandon nodded desperately, clinging to

this last hope. “Just an accident! Sweetie, you’re so kind, you’ll forgive me, right? Please tell your Mama…

Max looked at him, then suddenly smiled sweetly.

He turned, grabbed a silver fork from a server’s tray.

No one realized what was happening.

The next second, Max snatched Brandon’s hand and drove the fork deep into his flesh.

Brandon’s scream tore through the ballroom.

The fork was buried in his hand. Blood ran down the

silver handle, dripping onto the marble–just like the blood from my own hand.

Max let go and stepped back. He watched Brandon writhing on the floor, his small face expressionless.

“Sorry about this accident.”

He looked up, his clear eyes chilling.

“Now we’re even.”
