Reborn After They Aborted My baby and Stole My Womb Chapter 06
Calista’s POV
I stared at Freya’s pale but calm face, my throat so dry I could barely make a sound.
“You said… I stabbed the wrong person?” I asked hoarsely. “Freya, what do you know?”
“Calista, I never went to Milan.”
Freya suddenly crouched down to my level. She reached out, her fingers lightly brushing my festering wrists.
“From the moment you started intentionally creating physical contact with Sullivan these past few days, I knew something was wrong. I used the business trip as an excuse to stay back and investigate you,” she whispered. “I just didn’t expect you would actually pull a knife and send him to the hospital.”
gripped the cold iron chain in my hand, my knuckles white.
“Then why didn’t you expose me? If you exposed me earlier, Sullivan wouldn’t have gotten hurt.”
“Because you didn’t do anything wrong, Calista.”
She enunciated every word: **“You were never the one who deserved to die.“**
25 years in my past life, half a year in this one–not a single person had ever said those words to me.
Margot called me a monster, Theodore called me a slut, Archer called me a disgusting whore, even Sullivan slapped me and told me to abort my baby But Freya said I wasn’t the one who deserved to die.
Tears fell without warning, dropping onto her hand covering my wrist.
“Freya, then tell me, whose child was it?!” I trembled violently, my voice bordering on a breaking scream.” The fetus’s blood type on the report didn’t match Archer’s at all! But it matched Sullivan’s perfectly! I remember clearly, half a year ago at the family banquet, I got drunk and it was Sullivan who entered my room!”
Freya’s eyes suddenly filled with ultimate sorrow.
She slowly pried open my fingers that were white from gripping too hard, her sigh smelling heavily of Blood: “That night, Sullivan only brought you back to your room. After that, he slept with me in the master bedroom and never stepped out.”
If it wasn’t Sullivan that night… then there was only one person left in the entire Monroe family with that damn specific blood type.
“Impossible…” I shrank back as if my spine was pulled out, my stomach flipping upside down. A piercing scream shattered the dead silence of the basement-
“Theodore is my mother’s husband!“
My stepfather. The man who superficially cared for me, but secretly crawled into his stepdaughter’s bed like a demon! Getting me pregnant with his sickening spawn!
I collapsed onto the floor covered in dirty water, violently dry heaving, wishing I could vomit out my
organs and wash them clean. My eyes were completely bloodshot. **“They all deserve to die… They all fucking deserve to die!!“**
Margot knew. Archer knew. Sullivan knew.
The whole damn family. And not a single one was willing to speak a word in my defense.
Freya silently wiped the filth from my mouth, her voice light as a falling leaf.
“He did it to me too,” jerked my head up.
“The second month after I got married, Sullivan went on a business trip. He used sending wine as an excuse to get into my room. Since then, whenever Sullivan wasn’t home, he came, I popped sleeping pills for three years.” She pulled a copper key from her sleeve and pressed it into my palm. “I took a massive risk coming down here, just to get you out. One person’s evidence isn’t enough, but two makes it solid. Calista- we are going to make the monsters pay.”
The rainy night I escaped to the Monroe Estate, gripping that burning copper key, was the first time I understood what it meant to be alive.
Freya navigated the inside, feeding Margot fake news and wiping all traces of my escape. I hid in an apartment under her name that no one knew about, piecing together all of Theodore’s crimes over the past ten years–medical records, bank transfers, deleted security footages, and the women who signed NDAS with him.
Seven days later, a news flash scrolled on the TV: [
Sullivan Monroe, Vice President of Monroe Group, has recovered from his stab wound and was discharged today. Meanwhile, Monroe and Lennox Groups will hold a strategic press conference at the InterContinental Hotel downtown.]
I dialed the number.
The phone was picked up after a single ring.
Ms. Monroe, everything is ready.”
