My Son Called Another Woman Mom, So I Walked Away for Good Chapter 08

Kellan was suspended for two days.

Cormac wanted me to take him.

I refused.

“You have primary physical custody.”

Outside the school, he lowered his voice.

“My company’s been slanimed lately. My mom can’t really take him either.”

I looked at him.

“I once cooked for both of you while running a fever over 102.”

“Your inconvenience isn’t my problem anymore.”

He had no answer.

Kellan stood beside him.

“Mom, I want to stay with you.”

I crouched in front of hirn.

“You can stay with me on weekends, just like the schedule says.”

“What about today?”

“You’re going home with your dad.”

His eyes filled immediately.

“Are you still mad at me?”

“Yes,”

He stared at me.

I held his gaze.

‘I’ll take care of you because I’m your mother. But I’m not going to

pretend you didn’t hurt ine.”

Cormac reached for him.

Kellan jerked away and shouted through tears.

“You’re the one who said Mom only knew how to control me!”

“You’re the one who said Cambria understood me better!”

“So why are you yelling at me now?”

People nearby turned to look.

Cormac’s face hardened.

I made no move to save him from the embarrassment.

Eventually, Ms. Winslow brought Kellan back inside.

Before I left, I gave her Kellan’s counselor’s contact information.

“If you need me to come in, I will.”

After leaving the school, received a friend request from Cambria.

The note said:

[We need to talk]

I accepted.

She immediately sent a voice message.

I replied:

[Text me.]

A few minutes later, she wrote:

[I didn’t know he was still married.]

I sent her screenshots of the credit account, along with a recordin

from her birthday dinne

She stayed silent for several minutes.

Then:

[Stop pretending you’re the victim.]

[If you couldn’t keep your own husband, that’s your problem.]

I forwarded the entire conversation to my attorney.

[Save this too.]

That evening, Cormac showed up with a journal.

“Kellan asked me to give this to you.”

I opened it.

It was his summer planner, with every day he’d spent studying at

Cambria’s place carefully marked down.

On the final page was an instant photo.

On the back, he had written:

[I hope life stays like this forever.]

I closed the journal and handed it back.

Cormac said. “I didn’t know he wrote any of this.”

I looked at him.

“You knew where he was

“You knew he was calling another woman Mom.”

“And you knew I had no idea.”

His voice dropped.

“I was confused.”

“For two years?”

The color drained from his face.

I pushed the journal back: into his hands.

“Cambria was listed as his mother on Kellan’s school authorizatior form. You took me off the credit account and added her. You and Kellan were playing family with her while I sat at home alone.”

“Stop calling it confusion”

Cormac covered his face.

After a long time, he said, “I didn’t know how to end it.”

I stared at him.

‘So you hid everything and waited for me to walk away on my own

His eyes went red.

“I never wanted you to leave.”

I laughed softly.

“No. You wanted me to keep cooking. Keep raising Kellan. Keep

waiting at home while you did whatever you wanted.”

His voice cracked.

“Do we really have no chance?”

“No.”

As I started closing the door, he suddenly said, “Kellan asked me if

you were ever going to forgive him.”

My hand paused on the handle.

“I don’t know how I’ll feel someday.”

I looked back at him.

“But right now, I need to do what’s right for me.”
