Mistaken for a Gold Digger: The Billionaire Lifelong Regret Chapter 09

I stomped hard on his hand, but Riccardo acted like he didn’t feel a thing.

“I don’t remember you, and I never loved you.”

“You say you love me now, but when I was begging you back then, you were so cold and cruel.”

“Your love, just like you, is cheap and fickle.”

Riccardo’s hand was shaking badly, but I kept twisting the knife in his heart.

I watched Riccardo kneel on the ground, picking up the pieces one by one. The sharp edges cut his hands until they were covered in blood.

“What happened back then was a mistake.”

“Your sister drugged you.”

“If it weren’t for that child, I wouldn’t have chosen

to endure humiliation in the Bellanova family for so long.”

“I don’t want to see you now. If you really regret it, stay as far away from me as possible.”

In just half a year, Riccardo looked like he’d aged ten years.

Riccardo stared up at me blankly, his gaze finally settling on my belly.

That’s where a little life once grew.

Mine and his child.

But it was gone now, killed by his own hands.

When he realized this, Riccardo let out a sob he couldn’t hold back.

I turned and left. Just before I got in the car, I heard his heart–wrenching screams behind me.

Riccardo never appeared in front of me again.

But sometimes at corners, I could catch a glimpse of a man’s coat as he hurried away.

Riccardo ignored company matters completely.

Calvente struck repeatedly, causing irreparable damage to the Bellanova family.

After several warnings to Riccardo went unheeded, the Bellanova family stripped him of all his power.

At a party, people around me were saying that Riccardo had lost his mind.

Abandoned by his family over a dead woman.

He spent his days drinking, locking himself in his villa.

When drunk, he’d clutch a broken necklace and mumble to himself.

When I heard about this, I felt nothing at all. Lia died in that ice cellar.

When Riccardo heard the news, he just gave a slight “mm” in response.

Days passed one after another. Everything seemed to get back on track. Life became calm and gentle again.

One time when I went out alone, an unwelcome figure appeared before me.

“Claudia, you bitch, this is all your fault. I want you dead.”

Sophia, limping on one leg, fired a gun in my direction.

It all happened too fast. Before I could dodge, Riccardo came flying from somewhere and shielded me with his body.

Warm liquid spread out. Riccardo clutched his stomach, looking at Sophia who had been tortured beyond recognition.

“You’re the ones who did this to me. You’re coming to hell with me.” One of Sophia’s eyes was blind, and her remaining eye stared hard in my direction.

Riccardo lunged forward. Just before the trigger was pulled a second time, he grabbed Sophia tight, crashed through the railing beside them, and leaped off the cliff.

In that final moment, Riccardo looked back at me.

His mouth opened and closed silently, then he disappeared from my sight.

He said: I’m sorry.

A long time later, the sound of heavy objects hitting the ground came from below the cliff.

It wasn’t until a week later that the rescue team found two badly mangled bodies at the bottom of the cliff.

Riccardo’s incomplete remains were taken away by the Bellanovan people and buried in the Bellanova family cemetery.

Sophia’s remains, with no one to claim them, were taken by the funeral home, cremated, and scattered in the sea.

Calvente told me that Sophia had been bought and sold repeatedly on the black market, finally purchased by some creepy old man from the countryside.

After the man gouged out one of her eyes, Sophia grabbed a brick and smashed it on the back of his head.

Then she stole his gun and came looking for me, ready to take me down with her.

These two people who had caused me so much suffering died in the most brutal way right before my eyes.

Lia’s child eventually became the heir, but because he was too young, a Bellanova elder temporarily took over the affairs.

I stood in the estate, looking at the glittering snow–capped peaks in the distance.

The sun was rising. I still had a wonderful life ahead of me.

Everything was finally over.

THE END
