Lost the Bet on Our Anniversary, Ended the Relationship She Scriptted Chapter 02

I was hurt, furious, and done trying to explain myself

I sent Evan a breakup text, blocked him, and eventually fell

asleep from sheer exhaustion

The next morning, knocking woke me

The second I smelled that familiar cologne, I backed away

Who are you really? Is this another test? Did someone put

on Evan’s cologne just to see if I’d fall for it?”

His face crumpled

Aria, it’s really me this time. I brought your favorite cake

Please don’t be mad anymore.”

I looked at the box in his hands..

It was from a bakery across town that required orders several

days in advance and almost always had a line out the door

The moment he saw me hesitate, he stepped closer

I’m sorry. I never should’ve let someone else judge our

relationship. Today is our fourth anniversary. Can we at least

have today? If I ever do something like this again. I’ll be the

one to walk away.”

His eyes were wet and pleading

Against my better judgment, I nodded

We went to the amusement park

We rode the carousel and made wishes at the top of the Ferris wheel

Even though I hated the dark, I agreed to go through the

haunted house because Evan had been talking about it for weeks

Inside, I held tightly to his arm

Then an animatronic figure suddenly lunged out from the side

I startled and instinctively shoved him away

I lost my balance and hit the floor hard

My calf caught on a sharp edge and my ankle twisted under me

Pain shot through my leg, and tears blurred my vision

I followed the familiar cologne beside me, grabbed a man’s

arm, and used him for support as I limped toward the exit

Then I looked down

His clothes were wrong

He wasn’t Evan

I let go immediately and looked around in panic

Every face around me blurred together

I couldn’t tell anyone apart

Hands shaking. I pulled out my phone and called Evan

His ringtone sounded a short distance behind me

I turned

He was standing there, watching me with disappointment

Sienna stood beside him with a satisfied smile

I won the bet.”

Then she looked at Evan

I told you one fancy cake would get her to forgive you. She

doesn’t love you for who you are. She just likes what you do for her.”

She glanced toward the man who had helped me

She comes out with you and still ends up hanging on some

other guy. Only someone completely blinded by love would keep forgiving this.”

Evan said nothing

For a moment, everything around me seemed to go silent

My leg was injured and throbbing, but the setup hurt worse

Because of my face blindness, I’d spent most of my life expecting to be on my own

I’d made peace with that

Evan was the one who convinced me to hope for something different

I had believed he truly accepted my condition

Then Sienna kept talking

That was when I learned she had taught Evan how to pursue

me, answered some of his messages for him, scripted what he

should say after our fights, and even picked out anniversary gifts

From beginning to end, he had been delivering someone else’s lines

My hands curled into fists

I stopped trying to retreat

Ignoring the pain in my leg. I forced myself to stand

Then I walked toward Evan and raised my hand
