Chapter 6
Andrea’s face lit up with joy when she saw me, but the Moment she noticed Adriana in my arms, her
expression went ghostly pale.
I stepped closer. “What’s the Matter, Princess Andrea? Feeling a little nervous?”
Andrea snapped, “Why would I be scared? She couldn’t beat me when she was alive, so what could
she possibly do now that she’s dead?”
The Moment she brought up her royal status, all her fear seemed to melt away.
She was back to her usual haughty self.
Andrea sneered, “Maurice, since you found her, I bet you know how she died, right?
“She was nothing but a tramp who’d sleep with
anyone. You’re the only one who ever thought she was worth anything.
“Toss that cursed, disgusting thing away, and I’ll still take you as My husband. Otherwise, tomorrow I’ll have My father fire you.”
I asked, emphasizing each word, “Andrea, you caused Adriana’s death. Don’t you feel even a shred of guilt?”
Andrea scoffed, her laughter dripping with contempt. “Killing her was nothing more than crushing an ant underfoot.”
With a sneer, as if she were above it all, she said, “Have you ever seen anyone apologize to an ant?”
“No need for apologies, then,” I said coolly.
As soon as I finished speaking, dozens of beggars poured in behind me.
Andrea suddenly panicked. “Maurice, what are you doing? I am the princess! My father is the king. How
dare you mess with Me?”
I said coldly. “Why should the dying care about who they used to be?” Without another word, I strode out.
Andrea finally broke down, desperately clutching my
sleeve.
She said, “Maurice, I was wrong. Please forgive me. I’ll apologize to Adriana, I swear.”
I kicked her off me.
I didn’t even glance back, nor did I bother to reply.
Her apology came far too late. I worried it would only taint Adriana’s memory.
As soon as I stepped out of the room, my parents hurried over, drawn by all the noise.
Before they could even chew me out for carrying Adriana, screams erupted from inside the house.
It didn’t take them long to figure out what was going on.
My father wailed, “You ungrateful brat! She’s the princess. How could you treat a princess with such disgraceful methods?
“Aren’t you afraid the king will be furious and have the entire Donovan family wiped out?
“Get someone to stop this right now. Then go and coax her. She’s probably tainted now, but if you’re still willing to take her, she might even end up grateful to you.”
He nodded to himself, “Yes, that’s it. Maybe this will help the Donovan family climb even higher.”
There wasn’t the slightest hint of guilt in my father’s eyes for what I had done to destroy Andrea’s reputation. All he cared about was power and status.
My Mother pinched her nose, looking utterly disgusted as she snapped at me.
She ordered, “Just do what your father told you, and
do it now.
“And why are you still lugging around that dead body? She’s been gone for days. Aren’t you disgusted? Or worried she’ll bring you bad luck?”
Disgusted?
I never thought so.
In My Memories, Adriana always smelled sweet. She loved her favorite bath powder, and even her hair was always fresh and clean.
But now, seeing her again, even her hair was all tangled and messy.
Adriana never deserved an ending like this.
I asked, “Father, Mother, you’re the ones who caused Adriana’s death. Don’t you feel any regret or shame at all?”
My father sneered. “It’s just a woman who died. Why would I feel sorry about that?”
My Mother just shrugged it off. “She didn’t know her place. If she’d just agreed to be a Mistress, Maybe Princess Andrea would’ve spared her.
“Did she really think she was still some big shot from the Price family? Next to Princess Andrea, she’s
nothing.”
I said coldly, “Then you should just die.“
