His Broken Toy came Back to Destroy Him Chapter 07

Hadley’s POV

On the roof of Whitmore’s academic building, wind tears across the concrete.

Blair wears that expensive dress, but right now it looks flimsy and disheveled. She stands barefoot outside the railing. Lean an inch forward and it’s over.

Her hair whips around her face. Makeup ruined from crying, eyeliner smeared everywhere.

She sees me push through the door and screams. “Don’t come closer! One more step and I jump!”

I stop about thirty feet back and stare at her.

“You dragged me up here to watch you jump?” My voice comes out flat, like I’m watching a terrible play.

“Hadley! You evil bitch!” Blair’s pointing at me, completely hysterical. “You destroyed my family! My dad got arrested, the company went bankrupt, the bank seized our house! I’ve got nothing left! Even my friends blocked me!”

She sobs like she’s the victim here.

“You brought this on yourself.” My voice stays calm, almost eerily so. “Your family made dirty money for years. Cutting corners, bribing officials. Time to pay up. As for you…”

I scoff. “Did you ever think about this moment when you were bullying people? Framing them? Treating them like dirt because daddy’s money made you untouchable?”

“I did nothing wrong! I was born better than you!”

Blair grips the railing, still clinging to that ridiculous superiority. “People like you are just jealous! You’re jealous I was with Preston!”

“Preston?” I actually laugh. “He’s probably in a holding cell right next to your dad. Think he’s coming to save you?”

That breaks her. She collapses on the narrow ledge, sobbing.

“Hadley, please, just tell the cops it was all fake. Tell them my dad was framed. I’ll do anything. I’ll never

bully you again. I’ll do anything you want, anything…‘

She begs, barely coherent. Nothing like the arrogant heiress who drove me to those cliffs last time.

I watch her and feel nothing. Not even satisfaction.

Just exhaustion and relief.

“Blair. You think I have more power than I do, and you’re forgetting how the law actually works.” I turn away. “Jump or don’t jump. That’s on you. Your life or death means nothing to me anymore.”

“Hadley! Don’t leave! Help me!”

Her desperate screaming follows me. I don’t look back.

I pull open the door and head down. At the landing, cops and firefighters rush past me.

“What’s the situation up there?” An officer stops me.

“She’s pretty unstable. You should probably move fast.” I step aside.

Outside, sunlight breaks through clouds. The air feels clean and fresh, not suffocating anymore.

Cole waits nearby with two water bottles. Sees me and walks over, hands me one.

“Done?”

“Yeah. Done.” I twist the cap off, take a long drink.

“They formally charged Preston. The Blackwells and Hartleys are looking at massive financial crimes. They won’t see daylight again.” Cole watches me, admiration and concern both clear in his eyes. “So what now?”

I look up at the clear blue sky.

“Study hard, keep my scholarship, get a good job.” I turn to him and smile for real. “Then actually live.”

Last time, they trapped me in hell until I gave up. This time, I tore down their entire world myself. Dragged

them off their pedestals. I’m not just going to survive. I’m going to do better than any of them.

Cole smiles too. Reaches out and ruffles gently. “Alright. I’m with you.”

My hair Wind rustles through the leaves.

I don’t pull away. Just savoring this quiet, warm moment.

Everyone who crushed me, hurt me, tried to control my life got what they deserved.

And my new life as Hadley Mitchell is just beginning.

THE END
